When you fired the Hetzers at the artillery you forgot that they were overworked (failed blitz) meaning they required 7s not 6s. Also noticed you counterattacked on a 3+ with the assault guns but they would only counterattack on a 5+ despite being fearless. Great game guys!

Nice video review. On the Hungarian tank assault in turn 6 where you guys went back and forth, it was Sam's choice to choose the two Soviet infantry teams that were destroyed by two Hungarian assault tanks that passed assault skills since four Soviet infantry teams (2 HQ and 2 Hero Infantry) were touching base among themselves

Also forgot to mention that on the last Soviet assault on the Hungarian tanks the defensive fire hits only go onto the Soviet teams involved in the assault, not the Soviet infantry unit. Hits only go on the six assaulting teams.

Always happy to see Hungarians! I cannot wait to deploy some wacky cavalry unit in the battlefield with my army. It's a shame so many cool hungarian references are only available in metal.

Great battle report, I really thought the Soviets had this in the bag! A few small things 'tho: Sam removed a non-assaulting team when hit by defensive fire: only teams participating in an assault can be hit by defensive fire. And how did the Panthers have LoS to the IS-2s, the first time they fired on them? I'm sure the intervening terrain (the hedges) was in the way.

FYI if a unit fails its last stand it is Destroyed. It does not "run away". The Crew gets out and scuttles the vehicle.

Thanks for the comment, though in the rulebook under unit last stand it says. "DESTROYED UNITS When a Unit is Destroyed, all Destroyed and Bailed Out Armoured Tank Teams remain in place as Wrecks (page 21), while all remaining Teams are removed."

That turn 1 bombardment had the template over the stream so there should have been a penalty to ranging in.

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Sorry for asking again but I'm new to this... 15mm is the scale of the human? What would be the height of the human in 1:144 scale and 1:350 scale respectively? I'm interested in all army gameplay (including sea, air and land units all in one), but I'm finding difficult to find a golden scale, the ships get too "large" or the other units get too "small".

@@uisgeuisce It's hard to find a 1 scale fits all for combined arms. 15mm is the average height of a human. Not sure how tall they would be at 1/144 or smaller but they would be pretty tiny. You might look at what GHQ has to offer, they models are pretty small .

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall After asking around I found that 1:144 roughly translate to 10mm (11.2mm to be precise), which is not unusual and it has pretty much already land and air units available in that scale. As for the sea units I will have to design from scratch (Frigates and Aircraft Carriers) which would also require a special kind of rules of wargame since going from land to air to sea we are taking into consideration different ranges of kill zones. Imagine including also missiles!!! In 1:350 the ships are available but the rest get too small (4mm-6mm roughly). The 6mm units in fact are not 1:300 but 1:285 if I remember correctly from what I read. So indeed is hard to find an accurate scale and keeping in mind it has different manufacturers for the same scale which as it turns out are not accurate. I'm not entirely sure 2 of those Panthers could hit those IS-2s, the barrels were pretty much over the other Panthers indicating they were shooting through friendly tanks. Good game though!

Barrels aside, how was the line of sight measured? I'm pretty sure the Panthers couldn't have seen the IS-2s. If you can't see an enemy through 5cm's of terrain like forests or hedges, or are not within 15cm of an enemy inside terrain, then how was it measured this time?

@@onomatopoeia7505 I don't think hedges block line of sight like trees unless they are specifically bocage and tall terrain. Otherwise they just give cover.

Jon, Are all of the Battlefront miniatures being used in these various Battle Reports yours (built and painted by you), or do your opponents (Sam in this case) bring their own armies to game with?

Hi Frank, It's a mix. Many but not all of the Germans belong to Jacob. Sam, Jacob and Mark tend to bring their own stuff when they play but we tend to borrow from each other's collections if we need to. I completely painted my US (Mid and Late) Soviets and some Germans. I also have a fully painted EW French army.

A request: when you do the "Soviet turn 2 (for example)"-video bit, can you not use pictures from the upcoming turn? Sometimes you see beforehand that "Oh, two out of four of those tanks are dead, no excitement watching the dice roll when they're being shot in the starting turn" :D
