I strongly recommend the book "Pacific War Diary 1942-1945" by James J. Fahey. Fahey served aboard the USS Montpelier (CL-57) and he kept a secret diary of his service during WWII. A great read.

I love that we're not getting a not-gimmicky ship. Balanced premiums are the best way to go for game health, and also we're getting one of Cleveland's more famous sisters. I am 100% happy to have the chance to have both Cleveland and Montpelier in game in my port. One will be used to train my Worcester captain and the other my dedicated AL Cleveland.

What I'd like is for the Italians to actually get anything besides premiums - it's long overdue.. Though what I want the most are more operations; especially based on historical battles/skirmishes, such as the Channel Dash, Battle of Leyte Gulf or if they actually put submarines in the game - some kind of wolfpack operation against warship protected convoys. For future premiums I'd again consider ships with roles in historical battles/skirmishes such as Prince of Wales, Dorsetshire, Hornet, Blücher etc. :)

My Grandfather served on this ship during the Pacific theater and went on to continue his career in the Navy serving on other ships during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer and said he loved every minute of it. He was friends with James Fahey who wrote the Pacific War Diary which tells of their story serving on this ship. I actually have my Grandfather's copy signed by Fahey that contains a note to him. I'm hoping this ship comes to the Xbox version of the game it will definitely be a purchase from me!

That entire time, when you were talking about how you want to clear a flank and it gives you options, I was looking at the "last spotted" shadows on the flank you said was clear and thinking "I wonder where the two ships that were last spotted on the 'clear' flank are..." Aside from premium bonuses, not really. I already have my rooster and my Cleveland has had a dedicated 19 pt captain and the perma camo for years now, so I won't be purchasing this ship. It's a solid buy for the newer players and ship collectors though

Sry I dont know much about historical ship. I've just checked tho, and Empoleonmanis right, USS Portland was CA-33 and USS Indianapolis was CA-35. So the Pensacola class is different for the Portland class (Pensacola is CA-24). So - historically at least - you can't have a premium Pensacola from the Portland class.

On the CA line, Baltimore is the first with 27mm bow. The light cruisers do not get 27mm plating.

This is an upcoming azur lane ship. They arent going the boise route (which would be worth the money imo), just look at wichita. As to why, when atago is pretty much a 203 mogami with a heal, and prinz eugen is hipper with a heal, and no one is complaining about those, i have no idea. Sad really.

funny, if this was me, they'd be lobbing shells at me from across the map, winning my flank be damned. happened last week on this map - won my flank by pushing with my DM, as i'm crossing south to flank them their yammy citadels me from 18km through a gap in the islands. game over. best/worst part - it was a terrible volley. most of his shells were well short, just one long outlier that nailed my citadel.

This ship was such a lazy route for Wargaming to take. If they wanted to do a tier 8 US premium CL they could've done the Fargo, which was a subclass of the Cleveland. At least the visual model would've been different even if the performance would be virtually the same. I was actually looking forward to the Fargo, but now it'll probably never happen. What a shame.

So this is a T8 (so called) premium ship, with nothing that makes it stand out. It's not much more powerful, because the reload time has been nerfed and it doesn't really offer us a different play style. Perhaps Wargaming can do something to make the Montpelier more interesting or more fun to play, but as it stands right now; not only wouldn't I spend any money on this thing, I wouldn't spend any doubloons or Free XP either, and I have plenty of both. In fact, if this was a free ship you could earn from completing a campaign, I wouldn't care if I completed that campaign or not. I'm pretty sure that Flamu could have wrung out 200k damage in this game if he had played the Cleveland. Plus like any T8; premium or not, whoever plays it will have lots of fun (not) when they are uptiered and face the Stalingrad or the new Soviet battleships with impenetrable (even with IFHE) deck armor.

Out of those, only Nevada sounds really interesting, and she only barely does. We already got three USN T8 BBs, not counting clones (Alabama ST and Massachusetts B). Do we need a fourth one? Only if she gets the initially planned 3x4 356mm layout. Johnston? Another Fletcher? We already got four of those. If it‘s about the history of her, Samuel B Roberts or Hatsuzuki would do just the same, but be by far more desirable from a gameplay perspective.
