From my understanding pancakes are cooked on a griddle this is why they are griddle cakes in some places. Flapjacks are cooked in a skillet by fat frying. Some slight differences between flapjacks, corn fritters and hushpuppies but many use the terms interchangeably. There some regeonal differences in the pioneer westward movement.

@EjuiceyАй бұрын
Lyles, or Tate and lyles, the best golden syrup. They make astonishingly good black treacle too.
@BackyardChefАй бұрын
Thank you. If you don't have golden syrup, here are several substitutes that work well in most recipes 1. Honey: A natural sweetener with a similar consistency to golden syrup. It may add a slightly floral taste. 2. Maple Syrup: Offers a richer, more distinct flavour, and works great for a subtle difference in taste. 3. Corn Syrup: Light corn syrup is the closest in terms of texture, though it lacks the caramel-like flavour of golden syrup. 4. Agave Nectar: A healthier, mild-flavoured option, but it’s a bit sweeter, so you may want to use slightly less. 5. Molasses: For a deeper, richer flavour, though it’s stronger and darker, so use sparingly. 6. Brown Sugar Syrup: You can make your own by dissolving brown sugar in water and boiling until it thickens. Any of these can replace golden syrup, but remember that the flavour profile might change slightly depending on the substitute. Best, Rik

@BackyardChefАй бұрын
Yes. Ordinary oats absorb butter etc more slowly - give them a mix and let stand a few mins before chucking them in the tin. It could be a looser mix - so a quick way to solve that is to give a small amount a blend. Mix in with the rest. You might need up to 5 mins more cooking time. Don't over cook. Thank you. Best, Rik
