We need more of these acts of 'spontaneous joy in music' in our world. I've see with everyone how it lifts the spirit, evaporates barriers & creates a moment of 'space in everything' allowing all, for one brief momement to ignore differences & almost become one. 😊❤🎉

My hat is off to those who performed this. Very difficult to pull of even in a performance setting much less this flash mob crowd. It brought me back to the time I witnessed the BSO perform the entire Beethoven’s 9th outdoors on the commons on a beautiful summer evening. The playing was spot on and the effect was ethereal. Never to be forgotten.

They actually had to re-record a bit of this afterward. You'll see some of the string players came out of a pub. They'd had a couple too many, and when they tried to play, they were off tempo. There it was, the bottom of the Ninth. The basses were loaded. The score, tied.

Praise God; Jesus Christ, the Creator of ALL things-including music. Even the words in this song declare His name: "For by Him *all things were created,* both in the heavens *and on earth,* visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; *all things* have been created *by Him* and for Him" [Col 1 v16] *Truth is a stubborn thing.*

Perhaps there should be a flash mob Ode to Joy every day in London until the horrid Tory government gives up, and a decent coalition takes over, and gets us back into the EU, where we belong. And Von der Leyen needs to quit the EU. Then we can all live in peace and prosperity.

It was the most awful performance of that nobly inspiring and uplifting work of musical and poetic art that I have ever listened to. The screeching tone was a tragic parody of what Beethoven intended. Without the full bodied sound of cellos it was painful to hear.

What a spitefully infantile thing to say. We have as much right as anyone to the enjoyment of Beethoven's wonderful music and ( I think) Goethe's noble and inspiring words. And who gave you the right to decree who should be allowed that pleasure. Your bigotry encapsulates all that patriotic people of every nationality, detest and abhor. If you and like-minded people imagine that poisonous opinions such as yours will one day make Brits come crawling back to be governed by the European Polit Bureau, you have badly misread the character of the British people. Get a life and grow up Uwe

MUSIC does not have political boundaries! Only art, and emotion! What country, doesn’t matter. Boundaries change. Ruling parties don’t matter. They change often. Governments do not matter. They change. Music is a form of permanent prayer, and the peak of human achievement. Hopefully, when Aliens come down to Earth, they listen to real music, and NOT inane political blathering.
