Been worried about the books and paneling since the containers made an appearance. Much relieved that measures are being taken to protect them. Knew you would but was still very good to see. Marie and Lancelot together are adorable. That wee dog landed in a dream home where he is well loved by everyone. Lovely seeing Andie there. Hope Phillip's parents and all of you had a lovely time together. Best to all.

@@JamilaKendal Amaury has hardly gone missing, He just finished making and installing that beautiful counter space in the kitchen. The reason the panelling is being moved in the first place is to get it out of harms way for when they begin work on the Grand Salon. If the Chapel is finished and the final architect report is finally in, that work should begin at the end of this B&B season. Relax. It's going to be fine.

If you spritz the tablecloth and put it in the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes and place it on the table right away you won’t have to iron them on the table, the heat from the iron cannot be good for the wood of the table…….unless it was rubbed with beeswax or something similar to restore the moisture somewhat. Books kept in cardboard boxes are not for long term storage, as they hold mousture. Might be an idea to pop silicon bags in each box to help with that. You could put dehumidifing crystals in various parts of the containers you'll be amazed just how much water they collect.

I’ve been a “LaLander” for about a year now and I have come to realize WHY I am a faithful follower. I love the history of the chateau and the wonderful French people. I relate with you and Philip’s fascination for dinnerware and table dressing. It brings back wonderful memories of my grandmother. The love all of you have for one another is so admirable. I’m sure that the normal challenges pop up but you are clearly choosing to respect one another so as to protect and secure your relationships. I am truly edified that you are sharing your good fortune with needy individuals and/or organizations. Your generosity is a reflection of your Christian character. Finally, the fact that there is a consecrated chapel on your property just blows me away. I was brought up to believe that things like this are a gift from God and given to those so as to help build His kingdom of pure love. Oh how wonderful for all of you! I hope that you and Philip will be married there in the near future. Your precious love, laughter and hard work are not to be taken lightly. It provides such joy!!! I love checking in every night. I miss y’all on Friday and Saturday but I understand that everyone needs a break sometime. I’m sending my love from here in Lafayette, Louisiana. USA. God bless you!!!

The wooden " smashing " implement is not a masher. They have a flat bottom, but in Holland we use these" smashers" to peel new potatoes. You put all the thin skinned potatoes, fresh ones, into a bucket of water and bash between the unpeeled and uncooked/ raw potatoes. This rubs off the skin. So they are peeled. However I use it a lot on freshly dug up muddy potatoes and it does bash all the soil and clay off. Marion Storer Dunkeld Scotland ,but the potato bashing knowledge stems from being Dutch, where I lived till I was 20. Everyone ate loads of potatoes and we always had visitors and potatoes were cleaned in a bucket. We had huge amounts of it.

The wooden tool is used as a Vegetable Fermentation Tamper - and Cabbage Sauerkraut Pounder. While it's too wide to be used with a chinois strainer (a conicle metal strainer to make soups and gravies) she can use it with round sieves to strain and mash fruits and veggies to get a fine smooth sauce or puree. I would not use it as a meat pounder; just use it for vegetables, herbs, and fruit mashing, straining, and muddling.

Presumably the people who own it wanted it to be driven to keep it maintained, a car lying unused and immobile will end up with flat tyres and battery, rust, etc.

I am pretty sure they do own it. If I owned an expensive car like that, I would not want people putting thousands of miles on it, plus all the wear and tear. They drive it all over Europe, plus tante and tonton drive it too. The insurance would be crazy expensive loaning out your car to other people.

@@KathyRichards-tr9zx I'm assuming they expected to be away for an extended period, but didn't take the car with them because, you know, Brexit. Are you exaggerating perhaps, with regards to the amount it's driven, to prove something for which you have, in fact, no proof? I'm sure if they'd bought it off the owners, they'd say so. What do you think they stand to gain by pretending otherwise?

@@LaReynedEpee the boys have driven it to their home in England before and loaded it up from their storage units to bring stuff back. and they have left it before. How ADORABLE to see little Lancelot in the back of your car, peeping out. Reminds me of my late little dot. lol.. On a safety point - and i couldn't see properly - is he in a harness in the back? if not I would strongly urge you to get one. In the event of an impact and of course I hope that never happens to you, he will be thrown around badly and dogs can harm people in the front seat if they are thrown forward.. they hae also been known to go flying through the front windscreen. i am a retired Police officer.. so this is just a warning in case he is free range in the back there. I imagine though as you are so caring you have looked into this and for all I know he may be already in one. Take dare and keep your lovely vlogs going. Your admirer from Saxmundham! Hope Gerry is well just up the road from me.

I'm in south-central Oregon USA, and on an errand yesterday, I enjoyed a town-wide profusion of California poppies everywhere I looked, and we've got deep purple lilacs this year. Made me smile. Love your Spring bouquets, Marie. Those shallow bowls (in Limoges) were perfect with the goldenrod plates... ah well... Their simplicity segued nicely into your traveling bit on 'treating' oneself often... and simply. Have you been reading "The Tao of Poo" in the car? And that village WAS lovely. The roadside fish taco vendors in Baja California would be estupefacto at your table, Philip! 🤣 From San Diego to Ensenada, the locals use upside-down aluminum soda cans, mounded, and canted to a certain angle, as their night-time roadside reflectors. And for further simplicity, their tacos are usually just a corn tortilla, fish, and fresh cilantro.

You can also add some dri-air packets to the containers, change them out one they absorb the moisture from the air. I’m sure Amazon carries a product that works for that purpose.
