Great news! I created a brand new course to learn Dorico from scratch called Dorico: Beginner to Pro. It was designed to be the perfect logically structured way of learning basic note input to advanced notation with over 6 hours of content, and an exclusive discount to Dorico. I have used Finale for 30+ years and just purchased Dorico from Finale 27. I am a retired Theory/Composition Prof who teaches composing/arranging one day a week and arranges and composes music for choir, piano, and strings. Thanks for your helpful video.

I logged into the Finale website. And there was an option there to purchase Dorico. Is that what you were asking?

I am a Finale user for over 30 years, and used it to create and engrave scores for various purposes, folk mainly, but also for cimbalom (we just finished a booklet with scores from Hungarian composers starting from hand-written original scores). It was very demanding and I intend to take one of these as a learning step for getting acquainted with Dorico Pro 5. We will see how that goes. Thanks for this intro video. I will ofcourse follow also the Dorico learning videos.

Done. I am a 63-year old, legally blind trumperer and arranger. I use Finale (for 35 years) primarily to refactor and expplode orchestral trumpet parts so that I can read them. This typically turns a 4-page trumpet part into about 18 to 20 pages. I read them via PDF on a 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop, so I factor them onto pages of 8.5 x 13.5 so that they fill the laptop nicely in portrait mode. I also use it to create arrangements for orchestra, concert band, brass quintet, and handbell choir. Switching to Dorico would, I believe, be my best option going forward. Nice job on the video, Ernesto! I look forward to seeing your other work.

Done! I used finale regularly for my graduate assistant work at TAMUC. From my duties as the marching percussion instructor to the director of steel bands, it’s a vital tool for my every day workload. Having a Dorico license would take a lot of worry out of the future of my master’s (and ultimately doctoral) studies because I know I’ll have a more reliable and updated product to use for my teaching and arranging.

Done! I'm a long-time Finale user, and I arrange mostly for orchestra and other large ensembles. Definitely will be learning Dorico this fall, and hoping it will solve some of my Finale frustrations with layout collisions and extracting parts. Also, your website looks great!

Done! I'm a latin american student of music composition who wants to make choral arrangements of folk music as well as contemporary compositions. I'm sooo into engraving, music notation and musical software in general, so I'd really like to deep dive in this app. Great video as always!:)

Done! Great video Ernesto! I use Dorico to engrave hymnals and arrange sacred music for my church mainly. If I got the free Dorico license I can share it with my best pal and bring him/she into the wonderful Doricoland! Thank you!

Done, I switched from Musescore to Dorico Pro, I use it for transcribing score and tablature combo for guitar. Musescore has trouble translating to tablature for polyphonic single staff instruments (guitar) and thus the switch. Plus Steinberg had a really great sale on all their products

Done! I have been learning how to compose, mainly just doing little 15 second sketches for 3-4 instruments. I also want to hand transcribe some of the music that we sing at church. Most of it is translated from Greek, so it would be nice to iron out some of the places where the music feels clunky in the English language. I’m also interested in scripting, as I am a software engineer and the fact that Dorico uses Lua sounds super cool.

Hi Enersto I watched the 60 video and I was really impressed and also basically our due recall on the first got a hold of Dorico. I immediately started exporting files from Finale 27.4 and I was really seeing how the features with his application. I am a composer as well as a performer on the Bass I have my own set up here at home as well as printing out music on the printer, MIDI keyboard, Guitar synthesizer pedal board. And keyboard module and also using superior drummer 3 Fall by the Behringer X 32 digital mixing console, solid-state logic UC1 & UF8 DAW Control Surface Bundle. So you see basically I’m quite busy and trying to compose record, edit etc. etc. etc.. I would like to see more videos. Please let me know. Thank you. Darnice Linton

Done! I write marching band shows on Musescore. The percussion is fine, but the brass and winds sound terrible. If I win I think the flows on Dorico would be really nice so I don't have to make many scores for one project. I also plan to get into writing for orchestra, and it would be really nice to start on Dorico.

Hi Ernesto I want to know how can I change a key signature for only the Horn that no have key signature in the sheet the music is on the Key of A? Thank you I have subscribe to you channel great work.
@ErnestoComposer3 ай бұрын
I believe in Setup mode you can add a French Horn (No Key Signature). So you can change the instrument you have for the horn. Additionally, you can have a different key signature for a specific instrument by typing Alt Shift K (I think!!)

All you guys promoting Dorico to Finale users assume it is for writing new music however in reality it will be for editing their XML files. To me Dorico doesn't like it if you try to change or edit something it puts in the music. Starting a new piece isn't the same as editing an XML to make it look like my original Finale file.
@ErnestoComposer5 ай бұрын
As I mention in the video, learning Dorico first before you try reformatting your projects from XML will make it a more manageable process. There are too many things that can get lost in translation from one to another that makes it look like a jumbled mess and it'll be overwhelming to manage. Learn Dorico well enough first so you know what you're looking at and know how to fix it when you import your files. Hope that helps!
@erniebiggs83435 ай бұрын
@@ErnestoComposer no it doesn’t because there is a vast difference between original and a fully complete score. I don’t have any problem starting something and let Dorico do its thing.
