If the fan clutch is thermostatic, you can "recalibrate" it by turning the little thermostatic clock spring on the front of it. On mine I only turned the outer diameter of the spring like an eighth of an inch (think it was counterclockwise) and now it pulls like twice as much air through the radiator.

Just picked up a 89 F150. Hope to have it back on the road soon. Praying the 300 hangs in until I can afford a new motor though. It's been given all the heat, seized up, blown head gasket, possible cracked head, and down 1 cylinder. It's my dream truck though and hopefully everything lines out to save this truck. It's a shame since it only has 107k miles on it.

New obs Ford owner can confirm. Don't try to switch your tanks 😂 if it's reading and working on one just stick with that one. New selector valve just arrived for me $300+ later I hope my tanks read correctly and allow me to put diesel in like normal. She backs up in the filler necks real bad and gauge pegged passed full. Switch doesn't seem to do anything 🎉 mint.
