Bob the idiot is confusing the limit of angular resolution of the eye which is controlled by the spacing distance between the cones at the fovea and tells you at what the angle between two separate objects (say lines or any detail really) is required for your visual system to be able to identify them as separate objects rather than appearing as a blurred single object. But with a bright enough light source there is no restriction to angular size of the source for it to be seen as a near point source, all that happens is there is a minimum apparant size of source perceived by you can not get finer due to the area of your visual field mapped by one cone, so a star very far away whose light hits just one cone appears as a near point source and one the same size twice as far away will appear as the same size until magnified because its light also hit just one cone. The minimum required is 1 cone to be activated possibly by as few as 3 photons (in perfect conditions) and you can perceive a light. Obviously this means the angular subtense of the source can be tiny. Bob fails at physics.

"he explains away the reflected light argument by saying that we can only see an object if the light is reflected from it at a very specific angle." Well the statement is actually right. To see the ISS from the ground the observer must be looking a the ISS when the solar arrays are at a specific angle with respect to the observer on the ground and the sun. (This is called the EPS angle of earth-probe-sun angle) The online tracking software partially accounts for this in telling us viewing opportunities There are many time the ISS flies over head and we CANNOT see it with the naked eye because it appears dark. That is when the ISS is in "eclipse" or when the arrays are oriented such that there is very little reflection back at the ground. You used to be able to catch the "Iridium Flares" of spacecraft (when they were still up there) that were very specific "flashes" of light when the EPS angle was perfect for your particular location. The iridium sats are no longer up there so now the fad is spotting SpaceX's Starlink satellites.

Can you imagine the brainstorming session at Fake Nasa: "Let's build a fake space station and put it underwater so we can fake spacewalks, train actors (who've never been in any other role to pretend to be astronauts for the rest of their lives), get ILM to build special effects to make people float around in space, and put in on the internet, and build a projector at the North Pole to project the image on the earth dome, and an app to track the image across the dome. And start working on a fake rocket to take the fake astronauts into the fake space station (when they're really just going to the swimming pool space station") "Wouldn't it be easier to say that it's impossible to go into space?" "Quiet you!"
