Thank you very much for this video! It is very helpful and should be shown to all parents who have questions about their child's foot development. May I ask you a few questions? My son is 16 years old and is high functioning autistic. I just found out that he has OCD in both ankles and flat feet tight heel chord in each. A pediatric ortho suggested OCD repair and a modified evans procedure in both ankles appx 3 months apart. Is it better to have both surgeries done at once (one foot at a time) or is it preferred to separate out the OCD first (and have a total of 4 surgeries). He is not athletic but has gained a lot of weight recently due to pain and inactivity. I'm looking into surgeons in the NYC area (possibly HSS or NYU). Any recommendations would be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you again!

Thanks for the comment. In general combining the surgeries is easier on the patient and family. This is a general rule, but without assessing the patient, it is hard to reach a final conclusion

case: 5 years old child with flat foot. The arch can not be restored by tiptoeing or dorsiflexion of the big toe. Next step: a. wait until 8 years old? b. do xray because its a pathological flat foot? Any flat foot until the age of 7-8, should be left in peace? If the child is 8y and still has flat foot then you do xray?

As a general rule, I would wait as long as possible so long the symptoms are minimal.

Lol, I was diagnosed with flatfoot at the age of 7, and now I understand that this diagnosis was entirely misunderstood. It resulted in my parents buying corrective soles to have in the shoes, which I never used, and the issue never was revoked again.
