Great video. Can't believe I never built a Ford flat head. My uncle and father raced them in the 50s , they ended up with arden heads. My uncle gave me the engine in the late 70s but when we went to get it out of storage it had been stolen. I now realize that a certain bar i used for all kinds of stuff was a guide tool. I'm going to look for it i think it is still around. Keep them coming. Thanks.

Sad about the engine but hopefully you find the guide bar.

Another great video Danny + Shop Mom, Thank-you. Definitely the more info the merrier. I even wish I had a way to slow down the time lapse bits, to be able to understand the chipmunk bits..lol.🤣👍🇦🇺

It’s so hard to cut or fast forward a lot of the good information (I think) but the video would be 2hr long. Thank you.

@@MrDanielSoliz All good mate I totally understand, your time is valuable. Doing long vids, live streams and editing etc must get very time consuming...Although, I would watch a 2hr+ video from you, but it might not be something everyone would enjoy😂

Measure things it's the only way to make sure they're right, guess it's a bad method to make sure something it's realiable and.. the fact that two things look exactly the same don't mean they're the same; the fact that two twin sisters look the same don't mean they're equal, one may be "more fun" than the other. I like to see the whole process, i'm not a mechanic so i need to watch the what, the why and how to learn it; the video it's perfect imo. Stay well down there!

@@MrDanielSoliz definitely keep it, when you go full squeaky mode it's really funny. By the way, to your knowledge are the valve guide shims & the variable height keepers (collets 🇬🇧) commonly available in mixed sets, maybe via eBay?
@MrDanielSoliz3 жыл бұрын
@@chalkster4723 they should be, if you can find them ask shop mom she sent out a set not long ago. She let him know where to get them but he just got them from her.

@@MrDanielSoliz You're Both extremely kind & I'm absolutely sure that everyone really appreciates your knowledge & guidance. However, my project vehicle/engine is yet to appear! I'm hopeful that it'll materialise in the coming months. These videos of yours will be of great value.

Are you using a checking spring to set the height? Looks like it compresses extremely easy. Do you measure each individual "real" spring for 85 pounds? Some may get to 85 pounds at different heights.

Thanks for your great info, Where can I get these off set keepers/locks{ + and - }? I've always used shims ,But this is an application option . Good Job. Will M

On this build, are all the guides knurled (crosshatched) for improved fit prior to installing? I remember you saying that sometimes they (can be) poorly fitting in the block! I didn't notice, but were they single or two piece guides? Thanks 👍🏻🇬🇧
@MrDanielSoliz2 жыл бұрын
These are one piece guides and I don’t like how loose the fit in the block so I knurl them for a better fit. Your block is looking good ! 👍
