Fwiw I’m a new OW player, never played OW1, and 6v6 sounds like a lot of fun to me for the tank interaction. Sometimes I play open queue for this reason. Def agree that problems with the tank experience are not directly related to power level, though I have liked the recent buffs.

Dota 2 Skeleton King got changed to Wraith King, We got a Whole Big event about changing Skeleton King into Wraith King. There was exclusive Item drops and everything. Here's the thing about McCree/Cassidy. Two things actually. 1) The lawsuit had been going on for years prior to Overwatch's release, and it wasn't until the public found out about it that they decided to change it. I do not respect this decision. It should never have been that name in the first place. 2) "Cole Cassidy" sounds like a male escort's name, and I can't describe why. They should've picked a better name. Hell, we already had voicelines of his name being "Joel" something, and they could used that. This one is more nitpicky and is a joke, it's not a real reason to justify not calling him "Cassidy." In conclusion, they chose a bad name and they chose it at the wrong time, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to try to call him "Cass".

also a couple add ons, you could've kept it mccree and a majority of the fanbase would've never made the connection between the character and the real person (tho this situation proves why you shouldn't name characters in your game after real people) and if they so desperately wanted/needed to change his name to avoid backlash they should've done a community poll to find names and then vote on the best ones rather than choosing a random name that doesn't really fit the character

tank was a lot more enjoyable in 6v6, even with their overall weaker impact on the game, bc you werent the only one, so counter picking, CCing, and just focusing down the tank was a lot harder as there were 2 to deal with. Obviously 6v6 had its own issues like goats (which lead to role queue) and double shield (one of the reasons many think blizzard went to 5v5 outside queue times) but overall it was a lot easier to balance in a way that made the roles feel enjoyable

​@@likeaniggy regarding double shields, MOST SHIELDS HAVE BEEN NERFED. Rein barely has 1200 and Orisa's is just gone. If they went back to 6v6 I genuinely don't see that many issues with the format, ESPECIALLY SINCE MANY CHANGES FOR OW2 ARE GETTING REVERTED. Cass gets his flash, junkrat his two taps, and several other changes. Just restore the original game and be done with it

I have never understood the queue times argument for the swap to 5v5. In my experience as a mid-plat player on Xbox, everyone wanted to play tank. We've only ever had issues getting people to play support, until somewhat recently when all the supports were gigabusted. I'm sure Blizzard's got some statistic that disagrees with me, but this was my experience. When we moved to 5v5, queue times got worse because we still had a ton of tank players and less matches to put them in, since you could only have 1 tank per team now. All that said, I am not a 6v6er or a 5v5er. I love this game, I have thousands of hours in it, and I just want to see it thrive and to feel good to play. Enough to bring some of my friends back to it.

yeah no fr i have tank games were i absolutely stomp the enemy way more than i ever could on DPS but i always have way less fun. The reason being usually to stomp i either need to counter swap which i hate doing cuz i like playing who i wanna play when i wanna play or im already playing a counter to their character. If that happens however usually the enemy tank just goes back to spawn and picks the counter to my character and the fun goes down hill immediately

The real problem with 5v5 isn’t honestly 5v5 itself, but the decision to go 1 tank only when 2-2-1 is a much more tried and true balanced team formation for 5 v 5. Especially with how strong healing was getting in OW.

What about open queue role lock 6v6 using the tech from hacked quick play. Will be abhorrent for ranks for a while and basically kill role one tricks. But role one tricks were caused by role lock. People used to have characters from across the board they played, we could return to that expectation and then your elo is where you can match your skill to role game sense.

Heres my hot take. Overwatch 1 was not better balanced or more fun that overwatch 2 has been (so far) Did we forget how long GOATS lasted? How long double shield lasted? At least they fix things fairly regularly in this game and are actively trying to keep the metas shifting between characters.
