Pharah does have a large up close hitbox surprisingly. But a pharah close to a reaper is 2 things. 1 : A direct hit maniac. You're not outdueling this pharah unless you land 2 clean headshots on her. 2 : a silver pharah who just ran out of juice.

The funny thing is, Reaper and Junk CAN be some of the best counters to Pharah - he just arrived to the right conclusion through the wrong equation lol. Simply put, Reaper and Junk have potential to do much higher dps than Pharah under the right circumstances - so instead of countering Pharah by killing her, you counter her by outvaluing her. Basically you inflict more damage to the enemy team, than the Pharah can inflict on yours - because while Pharah has good burst potential and mobility, her actual raw dps is fairly low, especially if your team is not grouped up while running through choke points all the time. It is very map and comp dependent though, so mileage may vary.

Frankly, the DPS role is so fugged; if you don't have the one-shot capabilities to kill Supports or the absurd DPS to wear down Tanks, you literally can do nothing but try to pick other DPS heroes, and that's just sad to me IMHO.

I also believe DPS heroes shouldn't be one-man tank busters, but I'm also of the mindset that other stuff like Reaper's survivability through his health leech is in a good spot atm, so that for instance should be tuned up if his damage is to be tuned down -- and all of this is of course only *_IF_* Support survivability is nerfed across the board in the process.

Sure in your silver lobbies that might be the case but watch any decent high level lobby, the teams are actively avoiding the Orisa and TRYING to get the squishies, she just bats you around and fucks you and you have to just sit there and take it unless you go a full dive tank but then when you dive them the Orisa walks into your team. So majority of people just swap to Orisa because its significantly easier.

But man, OW2 really has shifted things, most of commers have been pushed up in rank due to new player influx, and ping has made people even quieter now than ever before because now there is a convenient tool to help avoid real communication.. kinda unfortunate, even though ping is objectively a great tool. But man, game feels so casual now compared to pre OW2 era.

That last clip reminded me of a time back in Season 4-ish of OW1 when me (plat Sombra/Sym/Mei) and my two friends (plat Winston/Rein and plat Mercy) were three-stacking and got into a comp game where the entire enemy team were all masters (3700-ish) and the other three-stack on our team were all GMs (I think 4200-ish?). 4AM Overwatch, ladies and gentlemen. The GMs hopped into VC and said "look, if you listen, we will win". Best game ever... it honestly taught me so much about how to play Sombra/Mei. Guys were giving tips and coordinating our timing and were basically giving us a crash course on high level play. We took that advice we got and the coordination we got from those guys to push almost into diamond afterward.

The problem with characters that have a high skill ceiling but are useless unless you are really good at them is that it is very hard to get good at them. Like starting out on doom and having to face an orisa and sombra every game just makes it impossible unless you know how to play around it. But before you can learn how to play around it you need to learn the basic playstyle and mechanics buts that is very hard to do when you are getting hard countered by characters that require no skill but are just as if not more effective.

I think just as Mercy players have to put out less skill to reach a rank, Doom players have to output an excessive amount of skill to reach a rank. The issue is that the problem with Doom goes further than just the numbers and is found in places such as the removal of a tank and the introduction of the newest cast. A good LW vs a Doom is a rat and they can at least stall the Doom enough if nothing else

Doom is not bad at least B to C tier dive tank. It doesn't require much skill to get value out of him either slam in punch out, rotate cooldowns, track cooldowns that can screw you. You don't need to be a GM doomfist you can be a doomfist good enough for your current rank. Even them counterpicking you is you generating value because they're probably worse at their counters or they would have pulled out at them from the start. If you're team is still doing well stay doomfist, if not switch. You can be getting shat on all game but it allows your team to win so that should be your job. Tank rn is get bullied all game so everyone else can have fun

To the first video: I think that the problem with characters like doom is that when the meta switches it feels especially awful to play skilled heroes. This is probably not the case for higher ranks, but playing characters like genji and doom when they are not meta makes you feel cheated. As if other characters can get more out of their kit for less effort. Reinhart is starting to feel like this too. One might claim this is a skill issue but if it is showing in even the slightest way in gm to top 500 then its probably 1000x worse in lower lobbies
