I make a fruit spread from a bag of frozen cranberries (love tartness!), an organic Granny Smith apple, cored, peeled and chopped, and an organic Bartlett pear cored and chopped…cook everything down in a pan until its thick then cool and jar and keep in fridge. I will also use a hand blender to smooth it a bit. Love it on my Dave’s Killer bread toasted.

I make my own too. I use 2 cups sugar free frozen fruit and 2 Tbs. Chia seed. Heat in a saucepan, mash the fruit, add the seeds and let it rest, Put it in the fridge stirring it once to make sure the seeds don't settle on the bottom. Super easy, super fast and super yummy.

The best jams that I have, I make myself.I use dried apricots and nothing else. Everything has sugar and the apricots have natural sugar and it’s sweet enough for me, that’s for sure. I have to admit it wouldn’t be sweet enough for some of my Friends who love sugar. Soak the apricots overnight and just simmer them in the water the next day until they are soft and make a natural jam

Congratulations on 1M! The “preservative” in jams and jellies is the sugars. They keep the Water Activity high enough to prevent micro growth. The low sugar versions often add the preservative - potassium sorbate - to reduce mold growth. It is important to keep the low sugar versions in the fridge. The citric acid (or ascorbic or malic) is added to lower the pH and get the pectin to gel. Sodium citrate is a buffer salt to stabilize the pH for improved consistence.

Haha the way you pronounce Bonne Maman (means “good mother” in French) is hilarious, loved it! The “e” in bonne is silent (unlike Bonnie) and the word kinda sounds like “John”. Maman is pronounced kinda like “ma”-“muh”. That one doesn’t really compare to any word in the English language so I would just look up the video pronunciation for it ;) Bonne Maman is a very popular French jam brand. You’ll find it everywhere and it’s way cheaper in France. Yes the ingredients are not necessarily the best but French produce isn’t as heavily sprayed as the produce in the US and glyphosate, although not completely banned is no longer heavily used: some 36 glyphosate-based weedkillers are in the process of being banned.

Hi Bobby, To make jam less sweet ( I am the same, find it hard to cope with anything tasting too sweet as I gave sugarup in 2012!), I make my jam half organic strawberries and half organic raspberries ( about 500gms), chop and put in saucepan and cook medium heat for about 10 minutes, put in a one tbsp of stevia (my recipe says 2 tspns, but that I find is too much for my sweet- sensitive palate, so stick to one). Stir stevia in, and keep stirring for around 15 mins, stir 2 tbsps chia seeds ( a healthy pectin replacement) for the last five minutes. I actually find also one tbspn Chia seeds is enough. Cool for half hour off heat, and pour in recycled clean glass jars with lids and refrigerate. If you want it chunky like a real jam, leave as is, I blitz a bit with blender stick whilst in pan to make jam more "spreadable", but with still good fruit texture. I find that the chia seeds help really well with the thickening processing, and jam is great for the next day! PS- You can squeeze a spot of lemon in during the cooking process if desired ( I don't generally). So- good luck! :-)

I've done my own jam or "preserves" with just the fruit and pectin. You buy the berries (sometimes you can add something like orange juice or lemon to flavor more) and the pectin. It comes out pretty good. Although, because it is fresh with zero preservatives, you don't have long before mold gets to it. I think you have a good week or two.

Hi Bobby. You asked why the sugar in preserves and jellies. Is not only for the sweetness; sugar makes the Ph acidic and that inhibits bacterial growth. So even homemade jams have a super high level of sugar. Lowering the added sugar will not "preserve" the preserves and would spoil very easily. But maybe adding enough citric acid would raise the Ph and would make a good jam? Finally, sugars lower the cost making the preserves more affordable (and more profitable). Lidl has a reduced sugar mix red fruit and an apricot version that are super low in sugar plus some stevia. St. Dalfour has great flavors and it's a classic.

I know this is late but I made jam over the weekend using organic cherries and honey as the sweetener. You have to use a special pectin that is made for low sugar/sugar alternatives. The brand I used was Pomona's Universal Pectin that I found at the health food store. It tastes great and you'd never know there's no cane sugar.

Its delicious. Lasts about 1.5 weeks. Try it. 👌

When doing canning, the pectins available for purchase (baking aisle) like Sure-jell or Realfruit, come in different versions. Original and low sugar or sugar free, which needs added fruit juice. The instructions warn to use exact measurements for safety. The sugar and lemon juice or citric acid are used to get the PH level right so the water bath canning is safe for shelf storage. If you plan to refrigerate or freeze, just using the fruit’s natural pectin (like in the case of raspberries) or adding some pectin or chia for fruit with less natural pectin is fine. Jams are relatively safe, which is why water-bath versus pressure canning is ok. Many home cooks start their canning with these. It’s a lot of fun to have organic blackberry jam using blackberries you bought at the farmers market in August when there’s snow on the ground in January.

Their other spreads use apple juice. It's not cheap but I don't eat a lot of jams or spreads so it lasts me a long time in the fridge. I first bought it when I was a student nurse 46 years ago. Plus I only buy nut butters that are 100% nuts. I've had major gastric surgery so sugar and I don't get along and I have to watch how much fat I eat as well. You need sugar which reacts with pectin to “gel” jams and especially jellies, you can go sugar free, but the texture is different, especially jellies, fruit juices contain enough sugar content, but you typically need to cook jams/jellies longer which will affect flavor...food science rocks!

The Moroccan Argan spread u have is called “Amlou” in Morocco. It’s a mixture of cooked Argan oil, almond butter and pure honey. The best you will find in Morocco is in the city of Agadir

Hi guys, so glad you did this review. It confirms I’m reading my labels correctly. I have been buying the Good/Good brand for a while but definitely wish it was organic. I can find it now at Save-mart in California 👍🏼

When I make jam myself, I will typically use a couple drops of stevia since the jam is not super sweet, even with the stevia. I typically use frozen organic strawberries or raspberries

I was just at Target today and passed the jams and wondered which is best. Since finding your videos, I am addicted and can't get enough! I decided to wait to "see what Bobby recommends." Really trying to eat healthier as my husband and I are both middle aged+. Loved your video on the bottled drink review when Art got that "chunker". You're daughter stole the show! She is so adorable! God Bless!

Make your own. So easy. I make freezer jams as I prefer the taste of the fruit when it’s not cooked. I cut the sugar in half so it doesn’t set like a preserve but I use a spoon to scoop it on toast. Tastes just like real fruit with little sugar. Tried substituting coconut sugar instead of real sugar but the color and taste was funky

Loved this video! I accidently found a jam that would be approved😊 I had organic cranberrys in bags left over from holiday so it was used to create jam. Boil, save filtered water, press add Stevie and place into sealed jar. It was solid so it was placed into boiling water then removed and placed onto keto toast or scone, FABULOUS accident.

I make a quick one with mixed berries and stevia. One cup of frozen mixed berries (organic) and I let it cook and reduce. Once reduced to my liking I add liquid stevia. Put it in the fridge and then use it the next day. It’s more a compote but I really try to avoid process food.

I was hoping to see ALL FRUIT or SIMPLY FRUIT brands to see how they measure up. Guess I need to read the labels! Thanks for all you do to inform and encourage us! I have been using Crazy Richards PB and SIMPLY FRUIT lately (Walmart). Their pickup service substituted the palm oil PB once, and I was NOT HAPPY!

I just take fresh raspberry’s and mash them up . Let them warm up from being cold . All fruit taste sweeter when simmered for a little while on stove . This is when you want something sweet . It’s your own fresh jam .

Luckily you don’t have to. Organic doesn’t mean shit and sugar isn’t bad for you. Unnecessary preservatives or additives sure you can stay away from those but lots of brands have affordable options. This is all quackery.

❤Can make your own organic raspberry/blk berry/blue berry jam with chi seeds with or without some raw honey ..by just mashing them all together and let sit for an hour. Its like a cup of berrys, 2 tablespoons of seeds and honey to your liking. Last about a week or so, so good on pancakes. Definitely clean berrys in a water white vinegar soak for 20-30min and rinse 1st. Soooo good and soo easy.
