Whole grain bread may not be the best alternative because of the gluten and lectin content. Both gluten and lectins damage the intestines and can cause issues to the gut barrier, leading to long term complications. Some people are more susceptible than others! Bobby talks about nutrients in whole grains versus nutrients in white bread. Imo, aim to get your nutrients from vegetables, not bread! Vegetables will give you a more substantial variety of nutrients. If you’re going to consume bread, eat gluten free, sourdough, or a clean white bread directly after a workout(benefits from the insulin spike). You can also eat the bread with a fiber supplement to lessen the insulin impact.

This apparently assist from getting spoilt or mole growing on loaves. I've used this trick and it works. Depending on where loaf is placed inside or out, bacteria attacks food, but apparently cold or maybe consistent light or heat does either slows or prevents bacteria growth. Fact: The cracked wheat listed on the label is NOT the same as enriched flour. Technically it is sold to the bakery as "crushed wheat" and appears very much like a lightly rolled oat. Very minimal process and no enrichment. How would I know? Worked there for 4 decades. FWIW Brownberry mainstream breads are just that: mainstream albeit using premium ingredients. GMO or organic certification is a costly affair and mainstream offers better quality than run of the mill sandwich bread at an affordable price. This guy should just say I'm going to trash every mainstream product because it's not GMO/organic blah blah blah. Nothing earth shattering to see here.

My only problem with watching your video's is that I am from the UK and we don't have anything near that level of range of foods to cater for those of us with diabetes. I don't even think we have the Stevia based soda's over here. I use a small 7 grain bread here at home, but like a fool have never looked at the ingredients, which I will be doing from now on. Great video, but I heard even whole wheat & grains, corn and soy are also bad for us because they're inflammatory, especially if we're sensitive to them. We've found out that my son, daughter & I are sensitive to all the items as mentioned, and we're trying our best to avoid them. 🥺😥 Although, we really love bread, knowing/having better options is really helpful!! 👌 Thank you!

I learned the hard way. Would you rather spend the money in healthy food or spend the money in medications & hospitalizations when your health suffers? I'm in much better health now. Good food is good medicine. It definitely beats the $300/month in medications.

Can you do a video on fresh coffee beans or ground. Which is the best to buy and from where? Thank you
@GailS.77775 жыл бұрын
The absolute best and freshest is to roast your own using the green coffee beans (available to purchase at various sites online). I have roasted mine in a hot air popcorn popper for years and use filtered Berkey water and a ceramic cone filter to brew. Once you taste the difference you'll never go back to the store packaged stuff again. The taste is so amazing!

But green coffee beans and roast them to your liking! They’re cheap online and they swell up after you roast them.

Yes but SO expensive! Interestingly one of my fave breads is Aunt Millie's Potato bread. I like all the good kinds you are talking about...but for a white bread...I don't have any right now but besides being delicious it is loaded with fiber and protein. But I'm sure it has some of the bad stuff too sadly. I have to make changes because I am diabetic or not haha. Hopefully my Doc will make a firm decision tomorrow at my 3mth. Thing is my Daddy died of complications from diabetes and kidney failure as did his parents. My Mama just passed from colon cancer on Easter Sunday. I'm pretty scared now because I'm the age my Dad passed almost 30yrs ago. My daughter and grandkids have lost a LOT of fam members in just a few short years just like me when my Dad and both my only grandparents all died within 12mths. I don't want them to deal with my death so soon if it's avoidable! I am on SS and with Covid tearing up everything it's hard to get the best quality stuff I should eat. Really EVERYONE should. But my little fam here is very picky and doesn't usually like the good stuff. Only my oldest grandson who is away at college. He's my copycat that way haha. As a baby he used to eat all the tomatoes off my Gorditas! 6mth old tomato freak! Peas. Corn. Sweet potatoes. Besides the usual stuff. The others including MY kid their Mom...nope. I keep trying tho. Thanks for this. It is my #1 thing to start with. Wasn't a big bread eater all the years I worked..really not much of a normal eater at all...but that's changed since I became a hermit lol. I am high risk with COPD and I don't go out much...stay safe!🙏🙋🍞🥪 OMG. WAAAWAAAWAAA. You werent filming you were giving them business! Ridiculous children running a very important business. Jeez this country sometimes. I want to move to Ireland.🤬🙄🍀💚🌄

ThatOne Guy Rye bread is super healthy. Sourdough easier to digest. Gluten free a gimmick, unless you are diagnosed with celiac disease. Gluten free spikes blood sugar, a no-no for diabetics like me.

Using only organic ingredients, I can make 4 loaves of bread for around 6 dollars. (Depending on the bread I make). I stick to egg bread usually. It's delicious, easy to make and healthier than anything mass produced. Organic labeled foods are ridiculously overpriced, but I feel it's so much cheaper than a doctor's visit. The last time I went to the doctors was nearly 4 years ago. And that was to give birth. Since switching to organic, and cooking nearly everything from scratch, my family and I have been healthier than ever. Eating organic pays for itself in more ways than one. Meal planning and taking advantage of sales is a good way to afford this. Check the clearance racks at your grocery store. Don't buy produce that's out of season. Visit the company's website to see if they offer coupons. Bob's Red Mill is one of my favorites. Adhere to portion control. This is what I have learned on my journey. Hope it helps someone.

You've got a lot of great advice; I'm a huge fan of Ezekiel bread from any store that carries it. Otherwise I get Dave's. Negative points for just dismissing "GMO" out of hand. Just because something is GMO doesn't make it automatically bad, but non-GMO is often an excuse for people to just make it more expensive (and some non-GMO get treated with more chemicals than the GMOs get)
