I just made these and they were really good and not at all over worked. Tender light and delish! I’m going to make these again and use some other extras like cranberry orange etc. mmmmmmm

I made these today but used blueberries and put a lemon glaze on top. Oh wow! These were SO amazing! Oh, I didn’t have heavy cream so I used plain Greek yogurt! Thank you so much for this recipe! Super easy and so delicious!

You answered my question on replacing the cream for regular yogurt, Greek yogurt is an even better. Like the lemon glaze option too. Thank you for your comment!

I don’t make sourdough so I don’t have the leftover starter. Can I substitute with more cream?

⁠@@SugarSpunRunmade it today (lemon zest & blueberry in dough part) and used full fat plain Greek yogurt and about 2 tablespoons of water to make it more liquid consistency, like cream. After baking, glazed with reduction of sugar lemon syrup. Turned out great! 😋

You can buy dry sourdough starter that you can activate and then use the discard when you have activated it

Do you think I could leave the dough disk wrapped in the fridge overnight? I'd love to be able to do most of the work ahead of time.

Normally you can do that with sourdough, it might give it just that little more sour taste to it

Yes, absolutely! They'll take a bit longer to bake in the oven but otherwise this works great :)

I don’t keep heavy cream on hand. Would milk work?

I haven't tried milk. I would use full fat milk and maybe slightly less since it's thinner. The fat in the heavy cream will help keep the scones from being dry so you may have a bit dryer scone using milk as well. Let me know how it goes if you do try it! :)
