This is the music that is the cradle of American's traditional music. Without the Irish music, America would be a sadder place. I love watching, hearing, and feeling Irish music and song. Thank you, my Irish friends.

You don't know your history. The Irish famine began in 1845. Morris dancing was first recorded in the 1700s and english folk music was documented in the 1500s. Have you never heard of Greensleves?

Yes, but do you know the origins of American country music? When America was first settled lots of Scots/Irish moved into the southern states. It was there Irish music melded with that of the African slaves. So you had Irish music over the blues foundation. The finest expression of that can be found in the Belfast band, "The Commitments". It came full circle. Real "Country and Western" music began after the Civil War. maybe 40% of American cowboys were black. They took their guitars and moved to Texas and Arizona to work on ranches. Around the turn of the century white artists ripped off their music, just like Elvis "borrowed" jive music and the Rolling Stones copied Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddly.. But at the end of the day, it all goes back to the happy mix of Irish and African music.

Amazing how an entire people love music so much and sing the love of their homeland like the Irish. So reassuring to see their musical traditions still being passed down to the younger generations. When an entire pub erupts in one folk song in unison, that's national unity! So envious! God Bless Ireland!

I would love to visit Ireland with my flûte and to play with everybody how wants to play with me. Could it have happened in a better town than Ennis? No. And the best thing is that it is in Ennis too in 2017. This lovely video shows us why we are so good as a living vibrant country. Happiness abounds and long live the young musicians who give us this pleasure.
