Troubleshoot and repair the Fleck Control Valve - covers cycle issues and brine tank. Don't forget to use silicone grease on all rubber fittings and O rings. The repair kit is available on Amazon.. I used this model Piston 60102-00 Seals Spacers 60125 Brine Valve 60032 & moen silicone plumbing grease.

Hello Mr. or Ms. K&D Not only did you touch on all the relevant stuff in this overhaul undertaking but it was also a pleasure listening to your laid back commentary. Thanks

A great video. Like yours, my control was almost impossible to turn with one hand. Ordered a kit from Amazon. It came with Molykote 111 compound that worked well as a lubricant. Everything went exactly as you described. I had to pull out the valve body seals one time because I didn't quite have one seated all the way. Didn't find a particular problem with anything but this was the first time any of this was changed in 16 years. The control turns quite easily now. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Thanks for making this video. Very well done! Mine was bought new in 1995 and has been very reliable, however it stopped working a few days ago .

The regeneration knob was stuck in regeneration. Following your instructions I took the control valve drive assembly off and discovered the brine valve stem was seized in the bushing. Cleaned it up and now works like new.

Excellent video. I was having the same problem with the brine tank overflowing with my Fleck Model 5600SE Downflow electronic control softener. Based on your video, I found the problem was a damaged Seal in the Valve Body, NOT in the Injector Body where I expected to find damaged "O" Rings or clogged orifices. I ordered the Seal and Spacer Kit and a new Piston Assembly which I expect will fix the problem. Thank you for this video!

Thanks for watching, I hope the repair goes well, I almost bought a new machine, but thought I’d try fixing and save a 1000 dollars. It’s working great!

Just awesome! I used Lithium Grease. data sheet seemed to think it wouldn't hurt rubber seals . Again great video! Thanks for posting

Even though lithium grease is low for toxicity, it can be an irritant. I would rather recommend plumber’s silicone grease since water going through the water softener will be contacted by humans. Of course the amount is so small, probably not an issue but there is a reason why silicone grease is recommended by Moen and plumbers. You are also assured that the plastics and seals are not harmed.

Mine just sticks at the brine rinse step. The timer tries to advance and it cannot. Too hard to turn. The gears just click. I notice the valve cam engages at that step and it is very difficult to depress. Going to order the replacement kit. Thank you.

Mine got stuck just before the brine+rinse. "Brine +" is visible but rinse isn't. However, we just had a service visit to make sure it was actually working (unit from previous homeowners, also out of salt; we were told it was good to go, just add salt).

Update, after two days on bypass waiting for a return visit, the bypass valve started leaking.

Great video. I'm learning so much about my Fleck 5600. So when I manually turn my regen knob to Brine Rinse it will push water right away into the brine tank then after a minute maybe it will start sucking and draining the brine. Is this normal?

My clock does not want to work, set the time and the clock wheel does not move as it should to keep time. i finally got my bypass valve to engage because it seemed to runing nonstop.

Can you hear the little motor running? Should be able to hear it or put hand on it to feel if running, should be warm. If that is working then make sure the red button is not stuck, it should move in and out freely when pressed, should be out with the gears line with dial gears… if problems with the gears or motor the unit won’t work… the other thing might be is the valve has basically seized up and the motor can not turn it, (that can burn out motor or damage gears) the valves should turn freely without much effort by hand as a test.

Sounds pike what's happening with mine. I think something is seized. It makes the ticking sound and then gives a click every so often and the gear jumps a little. Unfortunately, the bypass valve started leaking after two days on bypass.

I replaced all of these valves in an attempt to resolve a howling noise. Once the softener is fully within a setting, the noise goes away but then comes back once it transitions to the next setting. I thought maybe it was buildup in the valves shown in this video but cleaning the assembly and replacing valves didn't make the noise go away. Any ideas?
@kd_enterprise3404
@kd_enterprise3404 2 жыл бұрын
Of course I’m not there to hear, however the sounds you hear are possibly normal, mine makes sounds.. kinda howling type sound as you say during transitions.. the sound is normally because as the valve opens, it opens slowly, so the water is trying to flow through a very small opening which takes many minutes to fully open… (or close depending). I would not worry,

@@kd_enterprise3404 thanks for the prompt response. It's loud enough to wake my family up at 2AM. Perhaps the issue is more around my houses inability to dampen sound. Thanks!
