Billy Burnette & Rick Vito were fantastic. I saw this show & absolutely, it was the very best FM line-up, ever.

it's just NOT possible to fully appreciate how well Vito & Burnette mastered this music in the short time they had before this tour began. That both were total pros, surely made the difference. --------MJL

Saw this Tour at Wembley Arena way back, thought it was great, saw FM in Dublin 2015 and have to say Buckingham was unreal, never stopped the whole show, but I still think Veto & Burnett filled in well.

Glad I can enjoy all incarnations of the Mac without having to dump on most of them. This is a pretty hard-hitting "Oh, Well" and I love the power of it. Totally different from how P. Green did it, but I love both versions. And shouldn't Mick & John have some say about whether or not to cover a song they originally played on? I love the fact that two of the original artists feel qualified to perform this song, and a bunch of Internet pro's feel qualified to say otherwise!

Great song.. Thanks!

This is incredible. It may not be as gritty as early MAC, but it is more soulful. Saying one is better than the other is just splitting hairs. Like comparing two outstanding wines, neither can be called bad, and you should be glad you get a chance to drink it.

Rick and Billy played on tango tour too (this video is proof ;-). At Wembley FM played on June 18. and 19. ´88 and also on Sept 1. ´90, but not in ´89. Only for information ;-). I know that most of people miss Lindsey in these tours and find him better, but I like these shows more than others. But also because of the songs on setlist, not only because of lineup.

Fair comment about Vito. My opinion's based purely on this performance and what F.M. came to stand for. I saw the original line up several times and they smoked! Real raw blues. This has all the sharp bits smoothed off. I've seen Greeny a couple of times recently and his confidence is zero when he comes on stage. It takes a lot of boosting by Mike Dodd,who's brilliant and obviously cares hugely about the man, and audience response, which he gets in bucketloads. Then he starts to turn it on.

GREAT version. Fuck the fashion, that's not the point. Peter Green had TWO other guitarists backing him up! Wonderful song by Green, and a killer performance. All sixteen members of FM brought something to the magic of the band. Burnette and Vito were no exception, and absolutely right for FM.

@lakelandchief Lindsey and STevie were not in the band when this song was released ... Bob Welsh and Peter Green were original members of FM. I was born in '84 and I have been a FM fan since the day I was born. I love them! My mom was a huge fan... and had all their vinyls... up to 1989 (when she passed). I think she looked a lot like Stevie nicks... and it COULD be the reason why I love them so much... but It could also be because they are one of a kind. The best song writers / musicians ever

@BeauJames59 AGREED! I guess that the "music machine" was in full bore at this point, and Mick and John either didn't care, or thought it was "acceptable". But I'm with you on this one... saw the Buckingham/Nicks version of "the Mac" do this once. As much as I appreciated them as a duo prior to their joining FM, it just wasn't the same.

The 80's hair and clothes look so dated and goofy, but that's how most bands were dressing at the time. This is a good cover of "Oh Well." Buckingham does a nice job here and I think it's cool that they included some of the band's early music in the 1987 show. It isn't really fair to compare Buckingham to Green in this circumstance--Green was unavailable and Buckingham did a nice job of filling his shoes here. I'll bet the audience were pleased.

Ah, you might have me here. I checked liner notes for the "Chicago" CD my reference was not there. I keep thinking it came from Mick's autobiography, which I sadly loaned out and never got back. Of course there are well-documented stories of Willie Dixon suing Led Zep (rightfully, IMO) for using his compositions without credit or royalties. And Howlin' Wolf's reticence toward the London Sessions with Clapton, Winwood, etc. Point is, why not let the music stand on its own merits, period?
@stavrospgr200916 жыл бұрын
Peter Green is a truly inspired musician. The Macs had to go "Their Own Way". They are still tremendous song-writers, it would be best if they left out of their gigs songs written by Peter. Peter rules!
