The whole "Rumours" album is unbelievable. It's why it's sold over 45 million copies since its release in 1977, and stayed at #1 for 31 weeks, and, at the time, was the biggest selling album in history. The two couple in the band were both breaking up when this album was being made, and the songs they wrote are about each other. A real life soap opera coming out in the music they made.

IIRC this is the one song on the album that all the members got a credit for.

Personally, this is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. The harmonies are impeccable. There are 3 members of the group who do lead vocals. Steve Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. This was a collective, with Lindsey doing the lead in to the chorus. I suggest Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Go Your Own Way, Big Love, Gypsy and Don't Stop. :)

Watching your reaction made me smile. Rumours is one of the top four albums of all time. Depending on your country. Up there with Jackson's "Thriller", Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and (arguably) Eagles Greatest Hits, which eventually tipped Saturday Night Fever. (AC/DC's "Back in Black" and "The Bodyguard" OST also ranked, though you can choose which chart says what.) I bought the vinyl THREE times. Wore it out twice! Stevie Nicks has a unique quality, an incredibly versatile voice and timbre, like honey and whiskey on velvet. Also, if you didn't know, Mac recorded Rumours while going through a messy break-up, between Lindsay and Stevie, and John/Chris. That lends the song lyrics a whole 'nuther level of understanding. The band members wrote from their emotional perspective and the lyrics, therefore, have such timeless power and poignancy that still resonates today because of that. If I had four albums to last me I'd actually prefer Floyd's "The Wall" over "DSOTM" but "Rumours" is top.

I'm a huge FM and Stevie fan! So happy to see younger folk discovering their music! :) I have a suggestion for you. If you plan on being a reactor long term, please invest in a good pair of headphones! The music sounds good with regular speakers, but with headphones you can hear so much more! You pick up on the more subtle sounds and nuances that regular speakers just can't give you. And that applies to ALL music, not just FM! I guarantee if you can find a quality set of headphones, you'll never listen to music without them again! :)
@AW-yj6md3 жыл бұрын
Hah!, and there's more enchantment, and bewitching to come!!!!, with Fleetwood Mac the group, and with Stevie's solo work, hun, you think your down the FM rabit hole, ....huh, you'll be needing to go in depth through Stevie's works, and funny you mention Alice in Wonderland, Stevie did a beautiful album, but wait, let me say this song , this truly awesome song, is like the embodiment of the tumultuous complicated relationships in this group, some were interchangeable, people cheated, Christine and John McVie, husband and wife, there were relationships within the group with other band members, and when these relationships ended, not always amicably. Its a miracle they were able to work together, and when they did, this is the premier work that they made. Most of the time, some of the best music comes from pain, especially music about love,....look at Patsy Cline "Crazy", Tammy Wynette "DIVORCE", Dolly Parton, "Jolene", Otis Redding, I Been Loving You too long,..so do continue your journey through FM, the whole Fleetwood Mac album, and Rumours album, Dreams, I Don't Want To Know(very sassy, kinda bluegrass style lot of their music is like that, you already noticed that banjo 😉), Nevet Going Back Again, Goldust Woman(more bewitching 😉), then Tusk, ohh God, so very many good ones, Tusk, title track, awesome beat, Mick's drum skill, almost a tribal beat,..Honey Hi(very, very sweet Christine groove), Sara, ohh Stevie's soft song(great, great harmonies), Storms,.(to me its Landslide part 2), Sisters of the moon(BEWITCHING....lol), and Angel(ohh what a groove, comes in hard, more about an ex), ..then Mirage album Gypsie(enchanting 😉), Alright(another he done me wrong,..lol, there's a line, "I never did believe in time you know charging anybody's mind, now I can't define love like it should be, that's alright), now to the Alice in Wonderland thing, it just so happens one of Stevie's solo works, The Other Side of the Mirror, great album cover, Stevie in this gorgeous red dress, and there's a song, "Alice(has a slow steady beat,, very sexy), Long Way To Go(maybe I'm wrong, sounds like she's telling someone to hit the road, lol) then Albums, Bella Donna, Rock a Little(sassy ass album), The Wild Heart,(Prince helped her with a song), so do continue,. and by all means enjoy, Godspeed, Peace ✌

Fleetwood Mac were THE "it" pop/rock band of the late '70s, but their history stretches back to Brit Blues in the mid-60s. (Your Reaction vid sound quality isn't the best here... You should use headphones for a quality sound experience IMO.)

And her name was Stevie Nicks? Really? One of the most iconic rock singers ever. How quickly we forget. She belongs up there with Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. Try Landslide and Go Your Own Way. Then head down the Buckingham Nicks rabbit hole to see where they started.

i don't know if the late, great Peter Green had a premonition way back when he named his new blues band after the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood (drums) and John McVie (bass), but while the Fleetwood Mac line-up has changed several times, the one constant in over 50 years has been that rhythm section. It's a very deep rabbit hole you've jumped into and I hope you delve into some earlier songs. 'Black magic woman' and 'Man of the world' spring immediately to mind, but there are soooooo many great songs.

Fleetwood Mac began as a psychedelic British blues band in the late '60's. It was only years later and several lineup changes with only the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie remaining when they became superstars. Check out some of their other lineups: "Black Magic Woman" "Oh Well" "Albatross" "Hypnotized"
