Darron was a lot of fun. I'm a life long duck fan who enjoyed watching him play, and on several occasions had the chance to meet him. He was a kind man, who was generous with his time, willing to stand outside a Portland pizza joint and throw a football with myself and other teenage duck fans back in his Portland Arena League days. Great guy, wish him the best.

I’ll say this: If Jordan Jefferson from LSU got a shot with the Bucs, Darren Thomas 100% should’ve gotten at least a look
@CraigSmithII7 жыл бұрын
Buga Nation Jordan Jefferson was garbage under the Les Miles Offense--which consisted of just running along with Nickel & Dime passing. Jefferson had 2 years to get it together with LSU as the starting QB,but he was inconsistent. In the Wisconsin game back in 2016, he showed signs of improvement but when crunch time he choked & Les Miles went back to the running game for good that season

The fact that he didn’t even get brought in for a teams OTA’s or training camp after 2 very successful seasons on a great team tells me that coming back for another year probably wouldn’t have changed much about his draft stock. They saw him as a unpolished quarterback back from a system that hasn’t translated to the next level while also not having an NFL caliber arm or break away athletic ability. He was completely average in talent but he was able to find success in Chip Kelly’s offense while being surrounded by elite college running back and receiver talent. Sometimes a good college football player will only ever be a good college football player.
@Antbeast237 жыл бұрын
Henry White he wasn't average. He utilize his skills in the offense. Great athlete.
@henrywhite65537 жыл бұрын
Antbeast23 by D1 standards he was average talent wise but he had great production because he bought in to chip Kelly’s system and was surrounded by great talent and they had some success. He didn’t have any abilities that made him standout as an NFL prospect.

I have a friend who is a major Oregon booster and really has his finger on the pulse of the players. He told me that Darron was concerned about losing the starting job to Mariota his senior season and thought he was better off leaving at a high point, but that might be total garbage. Mariota was immediately good, so it wouldn't surprise me.
@doucheycowboysfan27517 жыл бұрын
I remember when he played in the Boise State game in 2008, he was slinging that rock everywhere! even tho we lost in overtime, I knew Darron was going to be apart of something special, Jermiah Masoli would go on to start the 2009 season finishing 10-3 and a Rose Bowl loss to Terrell Pryor and Ohio State. Then 2010... the rest is history, as a duck fan I was very humble to see an undefeated season, even tho we had that horrible loss to Auburn in the natty, I still look at that season as one to remember...

So hey, I'm late to the game on this video. But as an Oregon fan who lives in the Eugene area and goes to a lot of games, I'm going to offer one suggestion as to why he left early. Marcus Mariota (arguably the greatest Ducks quarterback ever) was on the roster at that point, he redshirted that 2011-2012 season. The coaches were all VERY high on him. Darron probably looked at that situation and was like, "Well, there's no guarantee I'll even start next year" and figured that might be his best shot. I actually think that was a good call because Mariota did so good his redshirt Freshman season, I think there was a good chance that in camp they would have given him the nod. And where would Darron's draft stock have been then? He went undrafted off a Rose Bowl win. I can't imagine he would have had s better shot if he were to lose the job to Mariota.

He tried to go to the league after his junior year because his senior year chip basically told him he would have to beat out incoming freshman Marcus Mariota, rumor from a lot of people I know that have some inside info. Darren thought he wouldn't out play mariota. That's the story. #goducks
@austinzilk17077 жыл бұрын
63legendary a lot of people don't believe that, but it makes sense honestly. In Darrens head his draft stock was a very late draft pick after his junior year, he probably thought "well shit if I lose my starting job I won't even be qualified for the draft" and decided to not compete,I think he could have won, who knows if that goes down, mariota doesn't start till his 2nd year so he might have stayed at Oregon 4 years and finished his senior year at Oregon

Darron Thomas was fantastic!! Loved this guy, and he is second only to Marcus in my book. (I'm a long time duck fan and an Oregon Alumni) Darron was the perfect trigger man for Chip Kelly, he ran that offense like it was made for him. Yes, his move to the NFL was not smart... but he knew that Marcus Mariota was gonna be the starter next year, he knew his time was short. But this guy was awesome at Oregon. Hey flem, can u do something a little different and react to the Steelers bengals game, cuz I’m a big Steelers fan and would like to see what a Cincinnati fan has to say, cuz personally I couldn’t have been more happy to see burfict get steamrolled like that I think he 100% deserved it and u are a very respectable guy in my opinion I would like to see what u thought about the game, the hits, and what u think about burfict cuz I think he’s the dirtiest player of all time

Christian Oberhausen please tell me someone else, someone that has twisted peoples ankles after they are down, that have purposely dove at peoples knees for he soul purpose to hurt them like last year, a player that has gotten 8 unsportsmanlike penalty’s in one year, a person that celebrates after they have hurt someone like he did to leveon Bell, a player that knees a qb after the play TWICE in the ribs, a player that purposely hits people in the head to hurt them then afterwards they say the player faked the injury even tho he was knocked out, a player that Ray Lewis, Shannon sharpe, skip bayless etc even say he should not be allowed to play anymore. I’m not taking about 60’s and 70’s and 80’s or even 90’s players before there were rules against it when t was common to hit a dude after the play, but burfict has no reason to do this he has done it ever since college and there doesn’t seem to be an end

And if u are talking about players during the 60’s-90’s still tell me I would like to know cuz I doubt they have twisted peoples ankles while they r on the ground

I heard one of the main reasons he left early from Oregon was because Marcus Mariota was going to be a redshirt freshman and Mariota had already outplayed Darron in practice. Darron knew he was possibly going to lose his starting job his senior year.
