RIP - The Magnificent Rutger Hauer. One of his best films and roles. You will not be forgotten like tears in the rain.

If your RPG group is tired of hearing Basil's admittedly BRILLIANT Conan score, I highly recommend this score. Flesh + Blood is a commentary on the swashbuckling swords and sorcery epics of the 80s and the score reflects this. Tonally Flesh + Blood's score is very similar to Conan and would work great as background for an RPG campaign.

This is a sensational score by Basil Poledouris. Definitely has similarities to Conan and equally impressive. A very lush score. The Intrada special edition is well worth a listen 👍🏼

Einfach atemberaubend!

Unlike the Conan soundtrack (which was very different from anything else) this score by Poledouris is a lot more reminiscent of sixties film music and even similar to Miklos Rosza's scores for Ben Hur or El Cid.

Paul Verhoeven, whose legacy is filled with rather interesting projects like "Robocop", “Total Recall” and “Basic Instinct”, which never seemed to be normal or standard in anyway, mostly managed it to hit the right nerve of the audience, leading those projects to become hits. “Flesh+Blood” from 1985 however, was a giant financial failure with about 6,5 million dollars production value and just 100,000 dollars to be earned back in the US. The movie is strictly violent and was even banned here in Germany until 2013. Anyway, the setting of the plot and the color of the movie seemed to ease the search for a composer: Basil “The Barbarian” Poledouris was off to score this adventure and did not fail his job at all. Enjoy this Conan-esques joyride!

Basil Poledouris is one of my favorite composer who never let me down with the scoring of his Films. I first discovered Basil's music for the Film Robocop and have been a fan every since then. It's to bad he died so young he had lots more music inside him to write. This is one exciting score and very melodic which I have on CD. Thanks Fred for another excellent choice in Film Music to upload. Out.

I would like to think Basil Poledouris and James Horner are cast in the same mold as their soundtracks are similar but Basil has more horn influence and more bravado.. However the Krull soundtrack from James Horner is just as good.. My opinion, both masters..

It's strange that in all these years no one has thought of making a remake with Charlize Theron as a mercenary and Sofia Boutella as a kidnapped princess...

the leading female character had a rather flexible relationship with the leader of the bandits, if i remember correctly. the man she was supposed to marry had the character of a saint if he was willing to live with it all...
