I'm with you Fletch. I love the backstory to original old cars, its what makes it for me. This is a real nice story, thank you for that. And American cars from this time were so stylish and beautiful, this Caddy is a just amazing.

Best episode ever Fletch. You are a natural mimic with those accents. Your explanation of an emotional attachment to the car and homage to ZIggy was (as my brother would say) "fully realised!". You are her worthy successor as the second owner of this beloved piece of her family and automotive history. Many thanks mate, cheers from Mark.

Another superb episode Fletch. Such a wonderful story about the car’s history. I can only imagine that Ziggy would have had a grin ear to ear when she drove out of the dealership all those years ago. I’m sure you as the next custodian of this beautiful car would make her very proud.

An amazing looking vehicle, the American "barges" have something that makes them different and attractive. Yours is an amazing condition and came with features that were optional (standard on the Deville) such as the power windows. My dream is a Fleetwood Talisman

Indeed, the Talisman is a beautiful model. Glad you like this one anyway - Cheers Fletch.

The mint green colour really suits the 70’s Cadillacs. New you wouldn’t have got much change out of $10,000 which was a lot of money back in the day. Anyway Fletch’s story about the purchase was probably a story the original owners love to tell. The day someone from Australia knocked on there door. God bless them.
@barrycuda37692 күн бұрын
And offering to reduce the price, because they,d considered how expensive it would be for Fletch to get the car to Australia, shows what salt of the earth people they were , my dear old Mum and Dad were like that .

Gorgeous car!! It reminds me of the movie "License to drive" as I believe it is same model! Don't think that one survived sadly Also what a great story!

They just looked so good with those slim pillars, thankfully Holden were taking notice while drawing the HQ. I like the 1974 Cadillac better though with the headlights together......but if I was a luxury car buyer in America at that time my opinion would not have mattered because I would have bought an Imperial.
@blinkie15232 күн бұрын
Wise man, me too though the Cadi is a beaut though.
@classicrestostv1fletch764Күн бұрын
Hey Area, yep - really love these pillarless cars from the era. I think the 74 definitely started going down the "cheaper" road. The 74's grille was basic square sections, the bar across the front was straight with no step-down section, and the rear on the 74 started losing its class, even the speedo in size became "smaller" in dash. Each to their own for sure, but I personally would stop at 1972 - with 1973 in a Cadillac as a maybe. Yes no doubting the Imperial was a fantastic car of this era for sure...and would have been more $$ than this Caddy back then as well. Imperials are incredible cars. Cheers & thanks for watching. Fletch 👍

I've met you in NZ. Anyway I've had a 73, a 75, an 84, an 07, and currently a 98, Cadillac and they ride so smoothly, like a hovercraft, in fact whenever I drove over railway tracks, where everyone else slows down, I step on the gas, because the faster you drive a Cadillac over the tracks the smoother the ride.
@classicrestostv1fletch764Күн бұрын
Absolutely - only those who own these American cars know. They are in a world of their own. Cheers Fletch 👍

@@classicrestostv1fletch764 I think that praised ride quality might be a large GM car thing generally ,I remember driving a friends 1960 Bel Air Chevy on a dirt road at night, when all of a sudden in the headlights I could see this big wide quite deep hole in the road ( there had been heavy rain the day before) , there was no time to swing around it ,and I braced myself for a pretty hard impact, but impressively, it just soaked it up , and we barely felt anything.

The sticker on the front windshield is for the Pennsylvania state annual safety inspection. Not every state requires a safety inspection. Some states require emissions inspection and some states require both types while others have no inspections at all. Within some states these regulations are different from one county to the next. Some states only have a license plate on the rear of the car and others have both front and rear plates.

Those cars were very blah null & void in those years 69 thru 76 in my opinion 1977 onward a lot of improvements yes 74 thru 76 was larger but not really better
@fredkelbert191321 сағат бұрын
Having “two” Cadillac crests on the leading edge of the hood was strange. I will never understand why the one on top would be “optional,” while the other was sufficient to identify the car. A wonderful and fascinating previous owner, but a redundant and completely unnecessary accessory! 🫤
@VintageVaughnVehiclcesКүн бұрын
When it sputters out and won't start that's because you put ethanol gas in the fuel tank and it destroyed the fuel pump. It dries out the diaphragm the diaphragm tears and you don't get gas to the engine anymore. Better make sure you use that 100% non-ethyl gasoline some pumps label it 100% gas. I have nine Cadillacs and many dead fuel pumps in a pile I learned my lesson yes it's worth that extra $1 per gallon. Don't put an electric fuel pump on it thinking you're going to bypass the problem just to get cheap gas. That big tank was meant to run on 100% dinosaur juice not 80% dinosaur juice and 20% of corn alcohol. Once I swapped to only buying 100% gas my fuel pump problems stopped completely. There's nothing worse than coming out to the car and going to start it up and you're at the shopping center and you just hear the starter Spin and spin and spin and spin just to save that extra few pennies per gallon when the tow truck comes there goes all your savings
@classicrestostv1fletch764Күн бұрын
None of that problem here with my cars. Cheers and thanks for watching. Fletch 👍👍
