Excellent idea! I just finished my 2nd rod and it is a spin rod with guides that have one foot. Placing the tape on one foot and trying to wrap the guide was crazy! I must have done 5 re-wraps and multiple attempts on 50% of the guides because taking the tape off when the guide was partially wrapped was not effective. I said to myself there has to be glue out there that won't be permanent and there is! Thanks for the video

Great video on installing the rod guides on the spinning rod. I have some rods that needs repaired and this will come in real handy. Thanks again for the video. Mike Brady

Is there flexibility to fine tune once it’s wrapped, or do you have to make sure alignment is accurate when gluing?
@flexcoatcompany3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can tweak the guides once they are wrapped.

Thanks for posting. Two questions for you: Is that a basic low heat hot melt glue? And suppose I made a mistake. It is easy to remove and reposition the guide?

Dennis, this is not a "basic" hot melt glue. While it does hold well, it is easy to remove or even reposition or tweak even once wrapped.

@@flexcoatcompany Guide glue is a MUST on micro guides...if you try to use tape, you're in for a LOT of frustration..LOL

I have questions sir, how did you create the straight line on top of the blank? Also, if using a locking micro wrap , do you not use an epoxy over the wrap?
@flexcoatcompany7 жыл бұрын
I believe the straight line that you are seeing is just a highlight reflection of the lights in our shop. You will need to apply epoxy to the wrap even with a locking wrap. The strength of the bond is achieved with the combination of the thread and the epoxy finish.

@@flexcoatcompany is this glue the same as a rod tip glue or are those a stronger adhesive glue?
@flexcoatcompany2 жыл бұрын
@@snubby Our tip top adhesive is different than the guide foot adhesive. The guide foot adhesive is more flexible and has a lower melting temp. The tip top adhesive is a better holding, tougher glue

tape works better, gluing doesn't make the wrap stronger, if anything , it makes it weaker by not allowing epoxy to fully penetrate the thread to blank and the guide feet. tape also allows you to move guides into alignment before wrapping, and after.

The hot melt does not prevent the epoxy from penetrating the thread. It simply holds, and even cushions the blank from the metal guide foot.
