I personally really love both Flex tanks, especially the 15 gallon...I have the 15 gallon which houses my Endlers...I like it OK. Grows my Crypts really well but yeah, trying to grow anything beyond low light plants is going to require more lighting for sure. What I love most about your videos is your sharing of your observations over time, I love that sort of reflection...so thank you Sean...I enjoy getting your videos a lot. I would love the Flex 32 gallon but my house is only 250 square feet...I would have to get rid of my drum set...not happening!

This one is a little shallow for deep deep substrate but you can still make a great tank that way. I picked one that was a bit taller so I’d have more room. I’ve had some success with the natural method. Even when they are doing well it’s less ornamental and more everything everywhere all at once. Totally nature on auto pilot. But it’s all about what you want to see in there. And it can be really nice.

Thanks to you, I bought a MegaFlex to add to my Flex 9 and school of Specs, but I can't set it up just yet, as we are turning the old dining room into a FISH ROOM! Great problem to have, also means I've got more time to plan and learn from people like you. I've got most of the stuff for it (substrate, wood, rocks, maybe some of the plants, some of the fish), but am still debating whether it'll be for my two fantail goldfish or for the betta sorority I'm planning (have the tetras & corydoras for it already in other tanks). I've got to find someplace to get the second light bar for it though, not as easy to track down in Canada...

I set it up planted but I ended up with a bad case of hair algae and I ended up taking it down, I’ll set it up again soon and I think I will follow your method of a lot of shrimp and patience and maybe I’ll add the second light, we will see how it goes. Thanks for the great videos it really helps to see your experiences and what has worked for you.

The algae in your tank are known as Staghorn algae. It may have come along with the plants, but it may also be pollution, poor water circulation. The cause must therefore be tackled, not only the algae being cut away. Soil and bin cleaning, your filter is also part of it. Ensure good water distribution. Fertilizing is good, over-fertilization with rotting as a result is not. Good luck with your bin!
