As much as it pains me to say this...they're crushing the storage game with this. Im definitely team red and it's been that way for years, but you can't deny innovation and attention to detail. The 2 things saving Milwaukee now are their various and unique solutions and their reputation. If flex comes out with a whole product line of stack coolers, radios, crates, wall mounts, dollies, slim organizers, etc (with the same innovations)...my boys in red are gonna have to come harder.

Flex definitely did their homework for accessories on this system. There are 2 downsides to Stack Pack: 1) no drawers, and 2) availability. I have 3 stores in my area that have Packout well stocked, but the 2 Lowe's have zero Stack Pack. Milwaukee is definitely killing it with getting the boxes, drawers, and organizers in our hands; any competitors struggle to keep the 3 basic boxes in stock.

Flex availability is still a problem. There are 3 stores within 10 miles, and one of those usually has 3 or 4 of the basic three piece system and nothing else. A store 15 miles west usually has several of the organizers and sometimes the mid-sized box. If I want the half-sized organizer I have to go 120 miles east. I've never been in a store and seen a new component so there are no impulse buys or encouragement to get the entire system. Contrast to red boxes (or pretty much any other competitor in this space) and there is always more in the store. Lots of opportunity for "I can use that" ideas and sales. It becomes a self-reinforcing cycle and Flex is not doing what it takes to get the mindshare it needs to succeed.

Man! Why can’t Milwaukee have real world experience in their kitchen cooking up awesome ideas like FLEX. Those are great solutions that they give you with that storage system. Love the fact that they make those accessories themselves. So much better than having to go pay a small fortune to someone on Etsy making them on CNC machines in their garage. Milwaukee should really pay attention to those people because they’re innovative enough to come up with brilliant solutions. Nobody at Milwaukee was. FLEX really listened and paid close attention. C’mon Milwaukee! FLEX is kicking your ass as far as innovation and design. They may not have much out currently but what they do have is proving to be far superior.

To be fair Milwaukee created the Packout first. It's easy to come 2nd or 3rd when you have your competitors' products to look at/use/review/reverse engineer/moniter customer feedback & compaints and then impliment all those changes into your own products with a fresh sheet of paper. Very different story to be the first to do something. Sometimes due to the way a product is designed from day 1 it's not easy to retro spectively impliment changes to huge injection moulding tooling.
@skolsaw1080
@skolsaw1080 Жыл бұрын
@@willholt100 Well said. My point being was really more about FLEX taking notice of the independent designers making those accessories and modifications to the packout system. I know Milwaukee had to have been aware but didn’t really do much about it. I think they were just more focused on shop storage which is actually pretty cool. I just think they should come out with solutions that can be mounted to the bars on the sides and front of the packouts, inside the lids, ect. Hopefully they’re working on something. 🤞

@@Gultiere I agree 100 percent with that. I’ve been a little disappointed with Milwaukee lately and I wish flex would’ve used the opportunity to say or market it like that. “ A lot of our market research came from the packout Community and we wanted to give customers what the competitor wouldn’t” or some kind of honorable mention. I’m not Defending Milwaukee it’s the people that made these things in their garage or workshop with 3-D printers that came up with these ideas and it’s a little frustrating to see people leave comments like flex have a bunch of geniuses working for them. Flex is going to make a lot of money off of other peoples ideas that are on the payroll some kind of honorable mention would’ve been a nice tip of the hat but flex has always had terrible marketing. @@MRBLACKWOODS83 obvious you don't know anything about 3D printing lol. I can print whatever I want using PETG that can easily handle the heat from the sun, If I need UV resistant then I can use ASA which is the same material in the dash of your car, or if I need incredible strength I can use carbon fiber nylon. Considering the plastic used for those accessories is likely ABS, what I can produce is better. Go off though.

We have the 3 major brands of pack outs at our shop. Flex holds up to the Milwaukee pack out. The only advantage that Milwaukee has is the quantity of attachments. The hydrolic hinges on Flex are awesome. I do have a couple complaints about my Flex stack pack. The level holder sticks out kinda far and I end up hitting walls and door with it. The clips that hold the bit cases under the lid don't hold very good. I have the socket set that supposed to clip in under the lid and it falls off all the time. I am curious to see what Klein is going to do with their new pack out system.

As good as their last infomercial was for jokes, they came pretty strong on their Pack Stack imo. All the factory accessories without having to find a 3d print guy is a appealing offering. Assuming they can keep up and not always be out of stock. Otherwise it's back to outsourcing. All in all they look like a nice beginning to a stack system. I am wondering where the over priced milk crate is? I use the milk crate for drywall hand tools and wouldn't want to be without it. Also would like to see some drawers and an XL box to replace the wheeled box, and of course stack it on the drawers. If they continue to come out swinging releasing ease of use, packout esq boxes I could see myself switching, as I have been wanting to swap some boxes around, and it would be a reset even staying in the packout, so if flex had the XL box, drawers, and a milk crate I could see the switch as I like the Flex color way. Flex did their homework, studied the competition, and made some improvements. If they do the same thing when it comes to their sales more ppl would be enticed.

Lol I got the packout because I knew 100% percent I was gonna break the latches on the ridgid or dewalt . And I jeep hearing latches undo the latches and put it on the latches and then I smack the shit out the latch and now I'm ordering it lol but as everyone said I'm hoping it will push Milwaukee to either lower the price or add even more amazing boxes. But I pull out all the boxes out of my packouts . And the bins so flex isn't showing me anything I want there literally many times the tools barely fit and I need that extra edge I'm sure the packs will get in the way. Sewn guys with the ryobi one and they grind off the but holder thing under the lid because its annoying. But I guess depends what you do for a living, great videos I love when you guys show us tools and systems so we can have a good look 👍

Looking forward to a durability test… aside from that it looks like Flex maybe the front running in mobile storage. I have few thin pack outs for organizing screws, nails, and what not. Does Flex have something like that?

I like the hydraulic struts idea. This keeps the lids from falling closed on you. Nobody else seems to have this cool feature. After doing some of my own research, you can only seem to get this brand from Lowe's, which always seems to be poorly stocked in my neck of the woods. I can't find anywhere on the Flex site where you can order anything directly from them.

Pick your plastic, most all these tool cases made by a plastics company in Israel, and of varying but overall decent quality. Design and prices vary, between all the brands, they got something that fits any need.......My Ridgid stack is doing fine after 5 years of daily in and out of my work van.......

I'd like to see one built in a cabinet configuration. Basically, you would open two doors that swing open. Inside would be places you could secure screw guns, drills, bits, and all that other good stuff. I like the pack out boxes (have a DeWalt one) but I hate having to move boxes to get to something in the bottom. If it was in a cabinet config, everything would be easier to grab.
@RAW_Reality

I like the idea other than it'd end up being a rather tall individual item. Alternatively, you could have a breadbox-style opening or deep drawer system that'd be easier to secure (lock) and last longer than something with hinges.
