A good story can be related by every person on some level one or another. For me, I lost my little brother 8 years ago and while I'm not a parent, I can still relate to the mother. I also lost my father during covid so only my mom and I left so that's another level of relating to the story.

I almost wanted to see my best friend’s reaction which was kinda messed up, considering their mother had passed when we were still dating..we’ve been through a lot. But she did surprise me with how she handled it. Yeah I could tell with hearing her voice on discord, it was hitting her but she would curse at me😅 (this is a regular thing with us) but still it’s good to know we have yet another show we could share and trauma bond over!

To make it even sadder, she wasn't murdered. During the ballet section, she was actually still alive and on a rooftop, where she then jumps. They made it more subtle in the anime compared to the manga, but you can tell with the horizon low to the ground being the ledge, the tiling of the roof showing under the ripples of the water, and for a few frames you can see her feet going over the edge. Absolutely tragic.

She didn't die on the street. The ballet was her jumping off of a roof in dispair after she couldn't find the girl. After the final jump, the lights fly by horizontally, then vertically as she fell. She had a last thought of her girl, and then a wet thud.

not per se. its a passing dialogue that gets the reader to hope she does. it really plays on the emotions of the reader which to be honest is what makes it a masterpiece. we dont know what happens to the daughter but we hope they meet in heaven.. not ask if heaven is real or if the daughter died.. so young but you hope a happy story forms in the small information your giving. it just means your a good person or it makes you into one. in my head, she did make it to heaven, her daughter died long before this since it could have happen in the 70s or 80s but her heaven was meeting her mom and she gets to do that. a little girl who forgot her own mom now remebers her two moms and what they gave up to help her live. it makes one person very humble and it shows in every chapter after

Not to be a downer or anything but i consider highly likely that the daughter was sold off considering that she owed money to those men i mean you must already know how that type of people operate but that doesn't discredit the possibility that she did died sometime between her mother's passing and the current events with aira and acrobatic silky, one could only hope that she didn't suffer much if we assume that the dialogue at the end literally confirms her death.

Im an animator for japanese anime, I even got offered to work on Dandadan earlyyy in production (2 years ago), but my career was barely starting, so I didnt make it into the team back then. I also practiced ballet when I was around 6 to 8 years old. This sequence, when she danced on the rooftops, moved me to tears. As you said, beautifully executed, they most likely got live action reference for this, which is very common for specific sports anime (such as blue lock, Haikyuu, Slam Dunk). Volume, timing, the music even, everything was perfect. As far as I know it was animated by Shuuto Enomoto, animation director and episode director. Great artist! The 'thud' sound was basically Acro-Silky committing suicide. Due to censorship laws they had to add it subtly. The manga made it more explicit. She was dancing on a rooftop and then decided to jump off while dancing. She had to work multiple jobs throughout the day along with prostitution to support her daughter. It's implied in the manga that her daughter was also killed shorty after she was kidnapped. Truly a tragic backstory ngl.

Last episode, Aira said: "I even greet the local blockheads with a smile. By believing that a pretty girl likes them, they can live another day. I am a pretty girl who is also kind!" And she does just that for Silky: acts like her daughter, and tells her what she needs to hear so she can pass on in peace. She's using what was a mean and condescending behavior before in a positive way at the end.

There are many great examples of parents sacrificing themselves for their children but I knew this one would hit closer to home for you. I also grew up with a single mother, not from a very young age but I was increasingly aware of all the sacrifices she made for me and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for sharing, Flexy. I think what's beautiful about this episode is just how much the story shows you instead of telling you. Like how you can infer that in life, Silky likely was a trained ballerina, but likely got pregnant and decided to raise her child on her own rather than continue her career. She gave her everything to raise her daughter, even selling her body. All of those jobs and she was likely only barely making it by. Her sole happiness in life being her daughter, who she bonded with by sharing her love of dance. And she had it all taken away from her. That utter despair transformed into one final dance as she leapt from the top of a building, now that her only reason to live was taken from her. It's no wonder she turned into an evil spirit, her desire to protect her daughter twisted into a mad obsession. I'm just hapoy that in her final moments Aira was able to give her peace.

At first, it didn't touch me, but seeing my friend tearing up made me realize that this episode was special. On a whim of curiosity a month later, I spent time watching videos of others watching this episode. I've seen a child of a single parent, a parent themselves, and now a professional. It took me hearing a piano cover of the music they played to break me down. The dancing with the music was tragic, saddening, yet as beautiful as the scene of Silky's final jump as a human. I'm glad I can finally understand things better, and that dance will not leave my memory for some time.

Launching right into the ending song after that scene, without a so much as a blink in between the two, was an act of violence. XD The director decided he was going to punch an entire population in the feels.

That’s neat you do Ballet. And it’s cool to see that the animators actually did it accurately. As for the episode, it’s a masterclass of visual storytelling the back half. An episode that shows you joy and then rips your heart out. Good stuff Dandadan is.

Had to comment again after watching wow. I'm impressed with your ballet acumen, passion and harrd work and how much your mother sacrificed for you to succeed in that very competitive and arduous space. I always thought of ballet as having a sort a oneness and duality where the actual artform, expression and performance is breathtakingly beautiful and majestic while the cruelty in the preparation and politics of the industry can reach disturbing levels which really makes me respect ballet dancers even more since youre able to create such beauty under such duress. I'm happy you made it to the pro level. You and your mom are connected so since you made she made it ayyye. Crazy how this episode mirrored your experience at a very sensitive time in your life. I felt that. But damn dt ANIMAAAATION was craaazzzyyyyyyyy but what made it even crazier that the animation was soooooo goooooood that a seasoned pro ballet fancer(you) was ableto notice all of the ballet technical and intricacies in the animation. That blew me away just as much as the episode did wow. FLEEEXXXXIIII you're the best. What ever your going through you will persevere. Withing your vulnerability I sense strength and resolve. Stay strong cuh!!! Great video as always and sorry for the novel I just wrote lol.

when I watched this episode, I saw the ghost's past, I could still hold back my emotions even though they were sad, but when Aira ran and hugged the ghost while saying "mommy" that's when I couldn't hold back my tears any longer.

The moment you mentioned the name of the position, it clicked in my head and I went "Oh crap, she knows ballet. This is going to hit her hard." I've watched a more than few reactions since the episode dropped and no one has been unaffected so far, but when that scene speaks to directly to them, stuff just starts flowing. I've only started watching your videos recently and in the back of my mind I kinda had an inkling you had background in some thing like that, I couldn't quiet put a finger on it, but yeah makes a lot of sense now. Condolences on your old space, BTW.

One little detail I appreciate about this episode/chapter is that there was no unnecessary fuss about lips touching lips during the CPR part. It was treated with the urgency and desperation it deserved, could've easily been a throwaway gag in some other shows

When I first watched this episode, I was teary eyed, not crying, but I'm not heartless. I felt the dramatic impact of it, the sadness, the dread. Now watching it with you, with your perspective and your connection with what was happening made it so much more impactful, I couldn't stop crying for a while here. I like to watch reactions to have a excuse to rewatch things that I like, but times like this I remember how amazing is to see something that you like in a new light, to understand a little more with the experience of others. This reaction was so intense, thank you!

People often focus on Momo and Okarun VA, tonight lady of the hour will be Kikuko Inoue. Mrs Kikuko Inoue is in her 60, and just range of performance showed in 2eps are beautifully done, not even with that many lines. Round of applause for the cast and welcome into true form of DanDaDan

I really love to hear every different story shared by reactors after watching this episode. Even though everybody went through different situations, I feel like we share the same feelings, because it was so relatable. I myself didn't have a stable job so I couldn't fully take care of my parents, even though they were still okay with that. Watching this episode made me feel bad because, after all the wonderful things my parents gave me, I haven't given them anything good yet.

That final jete... it was the last panel of the chapter, and in mangas the last panel usually has some subtext to sum up the last scene. This had the subtext "A jete into the wind", where we see her jete off the building. To this day it is still one of the most memorable and impactful Dandadan manga panels I have ever seen.

Especially with seeing how hard it was for you to even find the words to adress your own story, one can only imagine how tough not only the scenes in this one must have been, but also dealing with a somewhat relatable own experience during this.Your insight on the actual ballet part when it comes to the execution of movement and poses in detail was also very appreciated.

We didn't expect so many layers in this episode (I'm a reader of the Dandadan manga and, despite that, I didn't expect so much intensity). You didn't expect a tragic story about a ballerina and her daughter. We didn't expect you to tell us you're a ballerina. No one expected so many mixed emotions when watching this reaction video. And now we are all excited and discovering new feelings. Thanks for sharing all of this! Thank you to Dandadan for being pure art and providing us with all this connection. ❤
