These cars really are great, I've only owned like 7 of them. I bought one for $500 USD that was a base model with a manual that had also been sitting quite a while. Gave it a new timing belt kit, PCV kit, oil, spark plugs, motor mount, and wheels. It now lives on with a guy who is using it as his new daily driver without issue :)

Nice find, I really like these. These early 850s with the larger head lights are very rare in the UK. My dad got a saloon GLT version in 1993 and I remember it was pretty fast. I thought it sounded great, like an 80s Audi quattro when going fast.

Only the very early 850’s had four-bolt wheeks and the wagon was released a bit later than the sedan. There can’t be many four-bolt wagons in the world. I love these cars. The red V70 next to it is the same thing, just improved in every way.

I had a red 95 850 Glt sedan as a first car, awesome car and i loved revving it in gear past 4k, it sounds amazing then, but they seem to suffer from valve stem seals, that was the oil consumption on mine, seems the same on this, but i do miss that engine

no, focus st got the engine from t5 which is 2,3 liter. Ford switched the block material to aluminium and they bend like crazy. Thats why focus st got head gasket issue. The conversion on 850 fron n/a to turbo is very hard beacus of different compression ratio and few other things. The engine produced by volvo was very good engine, only problem with it is pcv

@@mastodontzemsty5746 All Volvo petrol 5 cylinders were aluminium... The 2.3 T5 is the first generation, later updated to the 2.5 T5. The Focus mk2 ST/RS uses this updated 2.5l, the same engine used in Volvo T5`s, the C30/C70/S40/V50, even Ford mondeo, S-max. Volvo used this engine in their cars up to ~2016, with some updates.

Just did the same process with my 850 GLT vagon. Yes - changed fuel pump, but also after few year standstill the injectors are stuck, so You gotta connect them directly to battery, so they get more curret, to start working.

Мне нравится как с каждым поколением, Вольво становится сложнее и сложнее. В V70 P2, на примере того же бензобака. Будет уже 2 топливных насоса. А крышка бензонасоса будет с внутренними гранями, что сильно усложнит ее открытие подручными инструментами. Про электрику я промолчу)
