I applied to delta once and got to the face to face but didn't get further. That was 5-6 years ago. I have a 3yold son and am due in two weeks. I am not looking into applying now, but once baby girl is a little bit bigger I plan to apply again. Trying to prepare myself and researching if this old dream will become reality.

Was the face to face interview hard? Because I passed everything I just have one more step before the face to face interview.
@Slotcaramba
@Slotcaramba Жыл бұрын
@@kiairamurphy2230 its not hard. It's just intimidating because it's with a lot of people. You're divided in groups so people are trying to show how special they are lol. They split us in 3 different group settings, we met with flight attendants, then we got divided into crews and were given flight scenarios (you literally have a mini fridge, drinks to fix etc etc), and then you are interviewed by yourself. As long as you're prepared and know the company guidelines, and type pf answers they're looking for you will be fine. Be there VERY early too. They observe everything, from the time you get there, till you leave. Let me know how it goes and best of luck!

What if you live where the airlines has a base, but you are one hour and a half away from the airport. Do they call with enough time to get dressed and drive? Or they call line within 30 min? I’m worried about that since I would need to drive from home to the airport. Thank You!! :)
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly 3 ай бұрын
@@StephyRangel Sorry for the late reply but basically most airlines have to give you a minimum of a 2hr call out. Meaning if you’re called at 2pm for a 4pm report time you have to be dressed, packed and good to go at the airport signed in in just two hrs time. I know some people who while on call chose to stay closer to the airport while they were on call at a Crashpad or hotel because they lived a couple hours or less away. Hope this helps.
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly 3 ай бұрын
That 2hrs includes parking at the airport and being transported to the airport of course. That alone can take an easy 20mins or more depending on the employee shuttle/parking service.

I had a couple of CJO's a few years back. Then as I was getting ready for training... I was told I needed surgery and had to cancel. Then my Dad passed and I had to deal with that. 🥺 And then Miss 'Rona happened! I never got to apply to your airline, even though I always wanted to. I believe they were accepting applications at the time of my surgery. I just could not bring myself to apply and then possibly not be available if I was called, and have the same thing happen as when I had to give up training! Sadly it was just one situation after another. Now... I could think "Maybe it wasn't meant to be!" because since the merger fell through...they have not accepted anymore applications...and it's been such a disappointment. But I just keep holding out with hope that they will reopen again. I hope you are still working with them. I hope to see you in the air one day! 💗🙏🌺

Thank you for this video, I’m a mother of a 10 year old. I’ll be starting flight attendant training soon and I’m so nervous about being able to get my son to baseball. I have a husband who is super supportive and a mother in law who is also very supportive and helps me with my son. I also am doing this for the flexibility. Thank you so much for your story ❤

That’s so awesome you have that help and support from them! You’ll need it for sure. Take it one week at a time and before you know it everything will become more and more normal. The kids and you will adjust. Mine are 10 and 8 now. Congrats and best of luck to you!!

Not unless you live where the training is. My training was in Florida and I live in TX so I didn’t see my kids until I graduated and went back home.

How long does it take before you’re able to be a line holder???? Does it take years??? What’s a reasonable estimate of time
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly 2 жыл бұрын
For my airline it varies depending on the base you’re at. I was on reserve 2 1/2yrs but it could be less at other bases. Not very long compared to other airlines.

This video is everything! .. ive been wanting to become a FA for a very long time ..i applied and got to the ftf interview a few years back but didnt make it past that ..now i have a 15 month old snd have been thinking about this heavy again ..i feel like shes at a decent age but I've never left her for more then a day and thats what im nervous about..theres also people who i feel are trying to shame me like i shouldnt be leaving her ..how did it work for you when you got hired since you weren't on your base ..did you have to relocate? I believe i heard you say your gone for no more than 6 days? How long are you home for before you have to leave again
@GalleyAlly

So my airline actually opened a base 30mins from my house in IAH so I no longer have to commute. When I was commuting we never intended to move to my base in DFW because that’s not what we wanted, so I was prepared to be a forever commuter but then we opened Houston and I transferred. So life changing! When I did commute tho the most I’d be gone was 6days and then home/off for 4days. In all honesty, if you can find an airline to work for that has a base that’s less then 2hrs from you that would be the best. Commuting is a full job for sure but you do what you gotta do if you want this. Hope this helps!

I'm married but I am conflicted because I want this career but I also want to have my first baby soon. Should I do reserve until I become a line holder then look into conceiving?
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly Жыл бұрын
I would say expect to be on reserve for 2-4yrs (it’s gonna depend on the base you’re at how long it’ll be) then decide if that’s something you want to do with a baby or not. I personally wouldn’t have a baby without being a line holder. It’s just SO much easier schedule wise with kids. Hope that helps!

Thank you for this video as I’m a mom that wants to become a flight attendant. My only concern or question is for example let’s say your gone for six days when you come back home how many days are you home with your kids ?
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly Жыл бұрын
It varies but on reserve 3-4 days off and as a line holder it’s really as many days off as I choose. Hope that makes sense.

If you have a three day trip can your kids come with you on your flight if u have a caretaker?
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly 2 жыл бұрын
Yes your kids can travel on your trips as long as there is space available AND they have another adult (ideally one on your benefits) with them. For example: my mom or husband could bring the kids on a flight and go on a layover with me as long as there are seats available for them.

Once you become a line holder and you're desirous of having a baby,can you get maternity leave or take a year off?
@GalleyAlly
@GalleyAlly Жыл бұрын
Correct. Lots of my flight attendant friends worked up until they were about 30wks, had babies, then took a year off to bond and be with their baby. It’ll be much easier to manage if you’re a line holder versus being on reserve.

On reserve I stayed in a crash pad but now I am usually able to get trips or swap into ones that start late enough for me to get to base the day they start and not the night before. I also have FA friends that would gladly let me borrow a bed for the night before a trip if I needed it ♥️ Be sure to check out my next vlog coming soon for an exciting announcement 😉
