I went to Madeira (I am Portuguese) on March 2000. They were still working on the extension of the airport as they had to implode the Hotel Atlantis. It was quite a scene to see. But he greatest climax was the airplane landing. Those cross-winds are almost always occurring and they are quite fierce.

Fabulous! Loved the capt intro to the navigation and way points and how that all works. My first, and only jump seat experience was back in the late '80s on board an Ansett 737 from SYD to AYQ, including the landing at AYQ. Amazing experience, skills and the most stunning views of Uluru .....and so my avgeek journey began! Thanks @GabrielLeigh another great video!

This video and the previous one over the north pole with the A350 were fantastic videos with enough detail to let you know what it was like to be on those flight decks with the pilots. Superb sound and video, and just enough narration between those quiet moments. I hope Gabriel and FlightRadar24 get's more invites to the flight deck in the future, these are engaging and fun to watch!

We love the island, it's become a bit of a home from home and I might even describe it as our 'happy place'. I've been sharing ADSB data with FR24 for some 4 years now. The web application and the mobile app are first rate. Those flight videos are outstanding too. Among the best of this kind in youtube. As for the unbeatable view during the final turn into Funchal - you just gotta see the final turn into RWY 02 to Santos Dumont (SBRJ / SDU) in Rio de Janeiro, just a few meters from the Sugar Loaf mountain. Might be worth contacting Latam, Azul or Gol for a jumpseat ride in a flight into Rio. It's as breathtaking as it gets.

@Flightradar24DotCom2 жыл бұрын
A lot changed after 9/11. Many airlines have a strict no-access policy still, while others will consider it after extended discussion and vetting. Some airlines see the benefit in press about their flight operations and are open to ideas, and Lufthansa is a standout in this regard!

I've only flown with Luftthansa once due to a scheduled flight cancellation out of Munich to SFO. Since I was flying business, I had lots of time to kill in their Munich First Class lounge. Gotta say, it was better than any American flag carrier lounge and I almost wished I had more time to kill. Flight was great, crew was superb and the experience was tops. I only wish I wasn't limited to US planes. Next time I'm on vacation I guess.

Alright Gabriel, now you are starting to spoil us with flight deck videos, GREAT! It is fabulous that you are not only getting access but you are going to interesting airports. I might be confused or is this a big surprise video. I believe you showed a “plane spotting” video, not long ago, from the ground at Funchal was this your flight to get there? The information the Capitan gave us was indeed also very interesting, as you have commented about. The qualifications to operate in an out of Funchal are not totally rare though. I can think of an airport in the Himalayas, one known as Lukla. Anyway you did it AGAIN . THANKS, JIM S.

Modern Airbus can keep the tracking the FINAL APP down to the missed approach point which for most approaches is the runway threshold. The pilot still needs to have visual by the MDA though.

Anyone know what that autopilot disconnect sound was around 18:07?
@tomstravels5202 жыл бұрын
Non pilot commanded mode reversion. Up until then the aircraft would be in FINAL APP mode so the flight directors would be guiding the pilot to follow the path on their navigation display. Once past the threshold it would switch to HDG and Vertical Speed mode uncommanded. It’s just another alert to the pilots something changed they did not do themselves
