6:32 Yes, dedicated drinks are standard for almost all Aeromexico flights, including tequilas, beer, whisky etc, but only during midday to night flights as I'm aware

Can you make some “stick around” merch? I’ll be your first customer! I was wondering if you’ll do a video talking about the recent change BA has made to how their exec members collect avios? Love the videos!

Still working off that breakfast from the Bergensfjord??? Great video - looking forward to Bergen versus Stavanger. Been to Bergen a couple of times - most recently on a cruise.... I think you'd like cruising...
@steve-marsh

@@MattsPlanet Haha yes! I'm actually researching a bit of a hybrid - The Hurtigruten. Any thoughts on that one? I guess it's more like a ferry with meals thrown in. Stavanger was a cracking port by the way for cruise ships, so close you could almost touch them!
@MattsPlanet
@MattsPlanet Жыл бұрын
@@steve-marsh I can't hear Hurtigruten any way other than in a Joanna Lumley voice these days... It actually occasionally sails from Dover which is just up the road from me... It is indeed an interesting hybrid - I've been worried that it doesn't manage to get either the ferry or the cruise part right as its kind of doing both, but I've not seen any reviews of it.... I remember it being relatively expensive though??? An expedition trip from the UK is probably radically different from taking it up the coast in Norway..

So glad you had a good time in Mexico - looking forward to the video. I flew Aero Mexico in Economy to from LHR to Mexico City in September 2017. Excellent service. I was in the centre of Mexico City when a 7.2 earthquake struck. Key point is that people of Mexico - random strangers - really looked after me. Too long story for here but they have my eternal gratitude. :)

Looks like a nice flight. I used one of those bid to upgrade offers to fly AeroMexico business class last December. Guatemala City - Mexico City and it was on a 737-800. Only a 2 hour flight so there was no meal service - just a snack basket and booze. Comfortable flight and on time. The chap seated next to me decided to go the loo as we were on final approach into MEX and the crew not only let him but told him in Spanish (I interpreted from their gestures and urgency of tone) to just stay in the loo and hang on as we landed! He gave me a shrug and a laugh when he returned to his seat to collect his carry on. Ay ay ay! Flew on to Oaxaca in business on one of their Embraer jets but that flight was too short to remark upon.

I flew AM SEA->MEX-> SCL a couple years back in J. Only long haul lie flat I've done to date. (in short, I got a massive voucher from AM for being overbooked on a SEA-MEX flight, and SCL was reasonable and got me to Delta gold medallion, so I booked it). I liked the seat although it's supposedly fairly basic and dated as far as lie flat goes. Food was underwhelming but it was just coming out of covid so things weren't the best. I had a great experience with all the narrowbody crews I had - not so much with the widebody (MEX-SCL) crew but they were decent. Also had good experience with crews flying them domestic (The CBX in san diego is quite a cool experience)

Hey Matt! I’ve recently discovered your YT channel. Flew AeroMex from Mad to MXC and I have to say that I had a really pleasant flight with them. Easily one of the best long-haul economy flights that I’ve loved. Overall service and cabin experience was great. Greetings from Cyprus!

It wasn’t to good because we had to go to the baggage claim to pick up our bags in the airport. Sometimes when you’re connecting in a different country to get to another country you have to go to the baggage claim and it sucks.

Nice video, Matt! Glad to hear you enjoyed the flight. I flew AM a handful of times domestically between MEX-GDL. I like it that they offer IFE on their planes, which feels, from a European perspective, like the promised land. Although that varies from plane to plane of course. And I doubt they ever put such machines on less popular routes. But when booked my flights, I usually pay attention to the machine and so far I never experienced a swap of planes before. Once I flew AM business domestically. While I did enjoy the better seat (yes, Europe, please take note!), they didn't offer any meal. Just a drink and bread/sweet basket went around. Another time I took them to Bogota in Economy in their 787. Compared to Avianca a much better experience. Friendlier service, better food, better movie selection. I all in all share you point of view. Decent airline.

Interesting. I travel through Bogota a lot and had not heard that there was a paid escorted Fast Track service to Fast Track to departures. I can see some links online, but nothing that looks very official. You were unlucky with the queues for departures. In my experience that is unusual. On how quickly you got through immigration did you submit the mandatory Colombian Checkmig information before leaving. Its not an easy site to use, but it is meant to populate the immigration system both in and out of the country and therefore permit easy processing. Although it is mandatory many people seem to skip it or be unaware of it these days. Airlines seem fussier about its completion than immigration. AeroMexico seemed interesting although pretty average. One alternate, although not direct is to take COPA to Panama and change onto one of their Mexico bound flights there. Their business is decent. Returning to London from Bogota isn’t easy with no BA flights in the region. Most people travel via Madrid. Personally my favorite is KLM who fly daily out of Bogota (with a stop in Cartagena) with a 789 and then transiting onto a KLM City hopper flight back to one of the UK airports they serve. Their business class fares are not that unreasonable and its an arguably way quicker than going via MXC. Lounges in Latin America are generally at best average. Bogota’s El Dorado does have sleep pods, included under the priority plus program for anyone with a long layover.

Thanks - some expert knowledge here! I did find and complete the Colombian migration website when I arrived (on Iberia from Madrid) and I suspect that speeded me in and out of the country. I did see Copa as an interesting option but I flew in from San Andres that morning so had a relatively narrow window for a flight which Aeromexico filled nicely! Cheers

Check Mig is meant to be completed on Arrival and on Departure. But it clearly wasn’t an issue for you. However it may explain some of the delays to others. They tend to be rather less forgiving of locals not completing the process.
@truebrit3578
@truebrit3578 Жыл бұрын
One item I did miss. At the end of your video you state that there is no entry card requirement for Mexico anymore. There is actually a new system online to submit a ‘FMM’ form online. However I have heard Mexico has had a lot of problems with the system and has ignored the mandatory completion. However that may change so future travelers watching your video might want to check the then current status.

So, I was worried that KZbin was taking over my life. Cripes, how on earth did I acquire 80 subscriptions? So I set about zero-basing, dumping the lot, to start again. But I held off deleting this one, because the output is consistently good and deserves more subcribers. But had I broken the algorithm? Over to 'History', which was nothing but Matt. Cripes! Off to my home page, where, PTL, Anna Herrin had survived the digi-cull and was ready to model another bikini down the Orchid Boutique runway. Phew! And phwoar! P.S. Good review, as they all are. I've been to Mazatlan and Cancun, so another visit to Mexico isn't a priority for me.

Ah, Bogotá again. The emigration officers are in dispute with the government about staffing levels so whilst the officers themselves are the friendliest you'll come across anywhere in the world, the queues can vary from 5 minutes to 3 hours. A royal pain in the ass. And I see you fell for the #1 mistake we all make in Colombia. Colombians are, on the whole, very friendly, and if you ask them, for instance, where the aero Mexico lounge is, they'll be very reticent to tell you they have no idea, preferring to send you on a wild goose chase of the entire terminal. But the latam lounge is well worth it. I used to have my ow emerald on them before left for delta. Shame, I used to take enjoy flying on them, even bumped into the same crew more than once, which was very friendly Looking forward to your opinion on Bogotá. I too am a great fan of CDMX, hope you had fun there as well.
