Seems like a solo flight should be... solo! Another great video! I remember my first solo, I was 14 with my dad in a warrior 2. We were doing a sunday drive (fly), just mapped out a route and flew it. We did this every sunday, my dad fell asleep about 3 hours in, and me wanting to learn, didnt wake him up! I had about 45min of solo, but I wasnt risking the landing solo at 14! I woke him up about 5 min before downwind, and he still let me fly it all the way in! Out of hundreds of flights, that is my most memorable!

Hi Jeff , actually when we land the 152 we never use the 3rd set of flaps unless we are so high on final approach usually it will be flaps 2 landing I think that’s why you were losing airspeed. But i like how much you explain everything.👍

Same here. And I also had a bug with the objective window at first causing it to not show any text there. For some reason pressing the up arrow on my keyboard fixed the bug and I could complete the training.

The issue must have been where you landed on the runway. On the last mission there was an "altitude too low" indicator. Doesn't make too much sense since both landings were safe and smooth, but who knows.
@Amros034 жыл бұрын
Carb heat should be off for takeoff. That should only be used if your RPMs aren't in the green arc...or if the engine starts running rough. Landing checklist...abeam the numbers, reduce power, carb heat, 1 notch flaps. Running carb heat all the time won't let you achieve peak RPMs.
@orazioinsogna84274 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! love the video! Maneuvering speed for the 152 is 104 KIAS (though this is for full control deflection maneuvers and depending on weight and C of G). Vx (best angle of climb) is 55 KIAS, Vy (best rate of climb) is 67 KIAS and you'll normally cruise at 90-95 KIAS. For reference this is with about 70 hours on the 152. Hope it helps!

Jeff..... are you sure you are right on the direction of the traffic pattern as you say @1M18..23?? Those brackets (as far as i understand) show you imaginary the base leg and final. So...if you think about that: they both show that the 2 directions both have a left traffic pattern. Not as you mention 1 left and 1 right. Also...if you look up Sedona in the info charts it says left pattern for both directions of the rwy..... Anyway...great video, thanks for that!!

The downwind leg was at 5700 ft that is why the marker was up high.

Given ambient temps in Sedona are in the 80’s over the summer, high density altitude is an accurate statement, in Tucson where it’s already in the 90’s at 7:00 am when I go flying, even though field elevation is about 2550, we’re taking off with a density altitude of over 3,000

The white arc is where you start putting in the flaps. It's in the inner circle of the air speed indicator usually below 100 kts. On a 152 I think it starts at 80 kts.

I was looking for someone else that noticed this. I think the first segment on the crosswind leg he missed the instructor's instruction to climb to 5800' and only caught the 5400' so that's where he stayed. Indeed, according to AirNav, KSEZ runway 21's elevation is 4830' so the standard traffic pattern should be 5830'.

Hey Jeff , how did you learn all of this airplane stuff, like all the buttons and everything ?
@fredrikhagsmyr80164 жыл бұрын
I believe he is or used to be an actual airplane pilot in real life, so the things he knows he probably learned in flight school as well as by his own experience by flying real airplanes. He used to do quite a few vlogs here on youtube years ago where he is visiting different places by airplane, as well as some videos of the airports where he used to work.
@blackice38204 жыл бұрын
A lot of what he knows has a weird twist to it. I highly doubt he’s ever been a pilot because no FAA examiner would ever pass this on a check ride. but he’s doing a lot of things that are right. I wouldn’t recommend watching this for flight instruction guys. if you do don’t apply this over other flight instruction.
