I think the best part about this aircraft is that it's developed by 1 person, from the modeling to the coding. It's remarkable.

it just goes to show that 1 person has raised the bar of whats possible in this sim and we should expect more from bigger developers.

@@striderdnb hahahaha No. Wing42 has set that bar high and this is not even close. Behind Wing42 would be PMDG 737/Fenix A320, then the Flysimware C414. This thing is about as good as the C310 from Milviz, all of them will be put to shame when the A2A Comanche finally releases. So, no, this thing has set no bars and barely clears the bottom rung.

Im only a few minutes into this video but wanted to take a moment to point out something. I know its part of the story for the flight, but aircraft the size of the Honda Jet typically would not have cabin crew. Just the pilots. The HJ wasnt certified when I forced out of the business due to an injury but in this category of aircraft there is typically just snacks and an ice drawer to cool drinks plus whatever catering you order. You dont start seeing cabin crew or Flight Attendants until you get up to the Challenger, Falcon, and Gulfstream category of business jets. With that out of the way, back to the video. As I have said before, you are now my go to channel for any prepurchase information. Keep up the great work!

Hi COD, Well I'm sure he has a much better idea of what he is talking about than me then haha. Personally I would still say the aircraft is too pitchy, but that's only going off other aircraft I have flown, so I'm always happy to say that I could be wrong. There probably is some validity to my argument though, as I believe the developer is looking to address the flight model in this regard. It's always hard to know with these things, but perhaps the real-world HJet pilot was testing the aircraft pre-SU9 etc. . . I'm glad you enjoyed the vid overall though and it's great to see another quality option on the console - impressive regarding the Navigraph support! Cheers and enjoy! : )
@fingerhorn4
@fingerhorn4 Жыл бұрын
"According to real pilot" etc is often a false or erroneous claim reliant often on people who are not familiar with what MSFS can actually achieve. Also it depends very much on the resistance inherent in your specific controller. Looking at this video I concur with Into the Blue that the controls are MILES too twitchy. I would always take "tested by real xxx pilot" with a pinch of salt.
@IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations Жыл бұрын
Yes Fingerhorn, I would say that it’s an overused statement at the very least. “Tested by real world pilots” sounds great on paper, but of course that term can mean many different things. Also, given that most pilots (myself included) are not test pilots, feedback is often going to be very subjective at best. The Fenix A320 is a nice case in point; many Airbus pilots think the addon handles very nicely as compared with the real aircraft, but there are certainly those who feel otherwise haha. None of the above is to question the validity of FlightFX’s/ COD’s statement; as you mention, many variables including sim setup, hardware etc come into play and one users experience can vary wildly from another’s. Cheers, all the best! : )

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks, still learning about flying stuff in general, and recently since I bought this sim jet, about flying it in particular. I find that it doesn't hold an air speed very well, it is either creeping up in speed, or creeping down in speed. @IntotheBlueSimulations
@IntotheBlueSimulations Жыл бұрын
I don’t think you’re missing anything Jerry; if memory serves me correctly, the HJet doesn’t have an autothrottle. The speed selection you’re setting there, is only for IAS Hold climbs / descents (ie the aircraft will pitch to maintain that speed during the manoeuvre). In terms of actual speed control in the cruise etc though, that’s all up to the pilot and manual throttle control ; ) Does that help / make sense? : )

Hi Jason, Indeed, I heard the same from someone else. Do you happen to know when he tested the aircraft - I'm wondering if it wasn't perhaps pre-SU9? Far be it for me to say that he's wrong haha. There must have been some validity to my argument though, as I see the pitchy behaviour of the flight model, is one of the things that the dev is looking to address. Charts can be a little misleading: When Navigraph tells you to close the web page, don't. Instead head straight back into the sim and the charts should then load correctly. Thanks øystein, glad you enjoyed it! Haha, I would rather have to agree with you on that. The HJet is clearly very well done (flight model issues aside), but it isn't really my own personal cup of tea. For me, the sweet spot for a jet (at least in terms of what I enjoy in the sim) was around 30 years ago - enough automation to make life easier, but limited enough that one still has to "fly the plane". I'm hoping we'll start seeing some more classic airliners sometime soon (DC-9, 737-200 etc). All the best! : )

Very beautifully done, I've been waiting for this for a long time, and now that I have it, I think it's saved me from spending over twice as much on an A320 that I'd end up using less than half as often. I think I'll be able to wait until PMDG's 737-800 in August for my next high quality jet. Agreed about the pitch sensitivity, I hope they can work on that some more. The frame rate hit seemed more on my system compared to yours, I think one of the recent sim updates must have done something with the G3000 in general because I tried the TBM and Longitude again and they're also slower than I remembered. I'll have to lock my rate to 20 instead of 30 for the time being. But in general another very nice and meaty plane which will be satisfying to learn. Always great joining you on your flights, I love the different styles of reviews between yourself (super-professional), AvAngel (informal but still relatively sane), and Swiss001 (insane but a nice and much needed comic diversion from the worries of my everyday life).

The FPS difference may be down to hardware differences; I suppose it depends on the limiting factor within one's system etc. Haha, a nice summary of mine, AvAngel's and Swiss' styles there. I'm sure neither myself nor AvAngel would mind having the same sort of subscriber numbers as Swiss though ha (although I gather AA actually has another very successful YT channel of her own)! Thanks very much Lukasz, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, the HondaJet is a very nice effort from the dev overall : ) Haha, I was wondering the same myself, as the end of the runway was rapidly approaching XD I thought the jet seemed a touch sluggish as well, though I haven't verified that with any data. I think the V1 speed must be a bit arbitrary, as it's only calculated based of aircraft weight (not runway / environmental conditions etc) as far as I can tell. I didn't do myself any favours though; I took an intersection departure (I thought that would give me more than enough runway for such a little bizjet!) and I had a slight tailwind off the Simbrief assigned runway also. In short, I don't think the V1 is to be relied upon and I guess the HondaJet isn't quite as spritely as I was expecting haha. I hope that clarifies things a little. Cheers and all the best! : )

Looks like a neat little jet. I like how they customised the garmin screens for the checklists, loading and charts etc, pretty neat. All the real plane automation being modelled is quite cool too, especially the lights as I'm terrible at remembering to turn those on or off. I read the real plane has one of those anti-stall doodads where it pushes the yoke forward when it reckons a stall is about to happen to prevent it, wonder if that's also modelled? You really motored off that runway, guess that's the power of VTEC eh? lol. Ain't the biggest bizjet fan but I did enjoy the LHC lear 24 back in FSX many moons ago. Although that's quite a bit older than the Honda and a fair bit more hands on. So kinda tempted by this but might wait to see if something more vintage is coming along in the coming months. Also eyeing up the Velocity XL by Black Square that was recently released. A pusher canard prop plane that can hit speeds of 400 MPH certainly raises the eyebrows, that's around Mach 0.5, almost up there with the HJet! Plus it has gull-wing doors which increases its cool factor quite a bit. Too many planes too little money eh? I did an inventory of all the planes I've bought for MSFS and I'm up to 52. Perhaps I should just stop buying things and enjoy what I have already, but there's always something new and shiny around the corner. Oh I spotted a tiny cut there at 6:40, very nearly completely seamless but just the tiniest of jumps. CTD? Sneezing fit? Pausing whilst you spend 10 minutes hunting around the cockpit for something? A bomb threat? Who knows... Anyhoo great review as always, hope all is well with you and cheers!

Yeah, the HJet isn't perfect, but I have to say that it's an incredible effort from just one man and the customisation is indeed very nicely done! It's not really the sort of aircraft I would typically go for personally, but the quality is certainly there and the aircraft is different enough to make for an interesting experience. The stick-shaker is certainly modelled (as I suspect you might have seen) but I'm not sure about the stick-push to be honest. Haha, what is this VTEC then? Someone else mentioned it and I thought he had misspelled VNAV haha - ooops. Yeah, the takeoff was a bit marginal, but in my (limited) defence, Simbrief had me planned off that runway, as the real-world conditions made it preferable. I structured my starting taxi point etc around it and wasn't about to change runways for a couple of knots of tailwind (and MSFS' inaccurate weather). I thought the runway would be plenty long, but it seems the little HondaJet doesn't have quite as much "get up and go" as I had anticipated XD Hmm, I have to say, the Velocity XL doesn't really do it for me. It looks like an impressive addon for sure, but a bit too funky for this traditionalist haha. I can totally empathise with too many addons and not enough money though. Especially with the channel, if I'm simming, it's usually to record. I have a whole host of addons that I would love to fly again, but can never find the time to enjoy (woe is me ha). Gah! Cuts are anathema to me, but with a baby now "helping" me with a lot of my recordings, it's a miracle if I can even start one engine without having to step away from the computer XD It's either that, or I've fluffed my lines (a natural orator I am not hehe). Cheers sir! : )

@@IntotheBlueSimulations VTEC is some technological voodoo Honda has on their small car engines to boost performance and improve fuel efficiency, something to do with variable valve timing and other things I think. Anyway its a bit of a meme amongst car nerds. I've seen some impressions of that velocity xl that aren't too positive so maybe not worth the time. I just need to find another plane with gull wing doors I guess. Or just fly the Corsair some more and taxi around with the wings up lol. Congrats on the kid! I'm sure they make for a fine co-pilot and that their first words will be "clear prop!". Also your oratory skills are just fine. If I was narrating videos all you'd hear is some west country mumbling.

Hi ET, There is a replay tool in MSFS, but it's in beta at the moment and doesn't work brilliantly. To replay the takeoff etc, I use a 3rd party recording tool, which can be found here: flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder I record the flight and then use the replay for any external shots that I wish to capture. Afterwards I then edit the external shots into the video. I hope that helps. All the best! : )

12:00 after 2nd engine start, IRL the plane's de-ice system goes through a self-test. This includes a strange knocking noise clearly audible from outside over the engine noise but not from inside. It sounds like somebody knocking his knuckles against the side of the plane. I'm told this is a bunch of small pneumatic hammers inside the leading edge of the horizontal tail. It has a weighted scroll wheel that offers dual speeds, depending on how quickly you spin it, it will gain a momentum like a flywheel and spin very quickly without continuous input from the finger . . . I am able to accomplish large heading, radio frequency and AP changes (on the HJet, for example) very quickly and precisely with this mouse. It's pricey, but absolutely worth the money. Hi Speedbird, Sorry for the slow reply. I did some testing: It is certainly possible to enter the weights manually, however the V-Speeds only have the "Get From Sim" option. That being said, I tried entering totally different weights manually and the V-speeds did change, albeit the change was very minimal. In short, I'm not quite sure where the aircraft is grabbing the V-speeds from and couldn't conclusively tell you I'm afraid. I'm not sure the V-speeds are all that accurate anyway though, since they don't seem to take runway selection, climatic conditions etc into account. You can speed up time using anything but Hjet is not capable of 8 hour hauls. With range up to 1200 nm, you will run out of fuel after 3 hours.
@ouyangwulong
@ouyangwulong 2 жыл бұрын
As Maczeta said, you can actually speed up sim time using the sim itself, through binding the "sim rate" controls, but I'm going to guess if that's your interest, you may well have figured it out already, and that your real question was: does speeding up the sim break the aircraft? For those who don't know, this is often the case with aircraft that use external programs to handle parts of the flight and systems modeling, as changing the sim rate by too much can confuse and destabilize those systems. I haven't had a chance to fully test this one out, but as far as I can tell, this doesn't have external coding that might go haywire with speeding up the sim. But I don't normally use the sim rate settings, so I haven't actually tried it with this aircraft. If I'm wrong, hopefully someone can correct me. Either way, no 8 hour flights are happening with the Hjet so you don't have to worry about that, though I've heard sometimes a three hour cruise can end up lasting a little longer than you expected.

Hello Darren, I’m afraid I can’t remember the outcome of the flight (other than what is shown in the video), it was so long ago. Were I to hazard a guess, I suspect the aircraft may have deviated further from the glide - that was fairly typical behaviour for most aircraft in the sim at the time. MSFS has certainly improved in this regard but still, the sim isn’t always spot on when it comes to the G/S / PAPI’s and the guidance they provide vs the touchdown zone. I hope that helps at least a little. All the best! : )

Hi Craig, You need to go to the charts page of the left MFD and follow the link from there (if memory serves me correctly). The trick is that when the Navigraph web page prompts you to close it, you want to instead leave it open and head back into the sim, it will then load up the charts correctly. What happened to the advertised cruise speed of 422 kts ? Overspeeds at 273 kts.
@5milessep
@5milessep 2 жыл бұрын
The cruise speed of 422kts is TAS (or True Airspeed), it’s how fast it’s travelling through the air. The over speed of 273 is IAS (or Indicated Airspeed), I don’t know what the typical IAS at cruise is for the HJet, let’s say 250KIAS. This speed is calculated based on the air molecule speed/velocity entering the Pitot tube. So yes, you could be flying along at at certain TAS, let’s say for example 480KTAS, and read a 273KIAS, and over speed the aircraft. Note I’m using example numbers here, but this is to explain the difference between the two airspeed values you’re quoting. Hope it makes sense.

Hi Jorge Well firstly you will need a Navigraph subscription. If you are subscribed to the Navigraph service, then you can follow the HJet’s MFD / on-screen instructions and that should guide you through the process. If you’re doing all of that and still having problems, make sure to keep the web page open during the “installation” process (it will say that you can close it, but actually you shouldn’t); with the web page open, once you head back to the aircraft, the charts should now be available. Hi Gary, Well, if you enter waypoint A and waypoint B, the aircraft should track you straight from one to the other. If you then enter an intermediate waypoint C, the jet should indeed track A-C-B, which I think is what you’re getting at? The Asobo avionics have long been bugged though when it comes to this sort of thing unfortunately. The dev / WT have done a great job with the G3000, but I think there are still some Asobo gremlins under the hood. . . As I say, a “direct to” might help perhaps, but otherwise it’s probably just a limitation you’ll have to work around for the time being I’m afraid. All the best!
