How does it work when an aircraft makes an instrument approach to an untowered, class g airport? For example KBLM is an uncontrolled airport but on the sky vector page it list nearby joint base McGuire Dix Lakehurst under the communication section. I've been told that it has to do with making an instrument approach but I'd like to understand much better. Also what does APP/DEP stand for? Thanks!
