Im very confused by the logic that a war would halt technological advancement. Both world wars literally forced technological advancement so hard we had airplanes that could drop atomic bombs within 30 years
@SpottedHares6 ай бұрын
It can depend if the style and scale of war, in the respective areas. Wars can cost and do a lot of damage and for areas getting leveled on a constant basis we see a reduction of precaution and development as the ability to manufacture takes a steep drop off.
@TetanusSnowfall6 ай бұрын
Adding onto what SpottedHares said the technological developments made during war can often be a waste in that they don't actually do anything useful or can't be properly utilised. All of Germany's wunderweapon attempts were for naught and would have essentially been wasted if not for the unique post-war conditions that led the USA and USSR to disregard money and morality to see who could build something more prestigious than a nuke.
@jakedoe6986 ай бұрын
Only because the country making those advancements didn't have to deal with the damage of said wars. The US was shipping people and supplies to other parts of the world and didn't have to worry about infrastructure and civilians.
@Silverfirefly16 ай бұрын
Maybe they stagnated because they had everything they needed rather than being forced into an arms race by zombies. You only need a sharp stick for zombies, after all, especially if you have a magic fox for miscellaneous magical foxing purposes. You could say that their war caused a lack of wars between themselves that would otherwise be pushing advancement.
@SMorales8516 ай бұрын
Wars don't really "force" technological advancement per se; rather, they force all technological advancements to be war-related. Also, in both world wars the US only ever participated in offensives, so they didn't actually lose any resources at home. In contrast, the USSR, where a huge part of the fighting of WWII took place, saw its technological development heavily slowed down by the war (and the following cold war), having to redirect large amounts of resources from consumer goods production and development to the war effort.

To be fair, if you don't already like a game, side quests are only worthwhile for boons they grant (a side quest probably won't make you care more for the story). That said, as a side quest fiend and completionist myself, I'd probably do the side quests anyway.

@manzanito36526 ай бұрын
The reason the parry is being so overused in games lately is because the mechanic itself is very simple. You just need to know the timing of the attacks and that's it. Which makes them also easy to learn because parrying mostly consists in pressing one button at the right moment, kinda like a hidden qte. And like a qte, is entirely binary, you either press the button or not. They are also hype machines, especially when showed in clips or compilation videos like "sekiro cool sick parries", which means free marketing and clout.
