Flipping Bangers Where Are They Now? Triumph Spitfire Golf GTI Toyota MR2 Part 1

Flipping Bangers first arrived on our TV screens in 2018, and featured Will Trickett and Gus Gregory who were buying, restoring and then selling on classic cars in just 5 days.
A familiar format to many, this was a back to basics style Wheeler Dealers show as the budgets were small and were UK based.
We thought it was time to take a look and see what has happened to some of the cars from the first series. In this video we are going to look for:
1973 Triumph Spitfire, reg no KRP975L
1992 Volkswagen Golf GTI, reg no J704EWP
1990 Toyota MR2, reg no H275XGX

Interesting video again. Just in case anyone is interested, as another commenter has said, the Flipping Bangers workshop is actually Paul Brackley's shop, he also did a lot of the work off camera, same as in WD. Also, years ago Will Trickett did a show with a guy called Elo, can't remember what it was called, where Will was the mechanic and Elo was the Mike Brewer. I bumped into Elo at the NEC and had a long chat with him and it turns out Will is a pretty talented Jack-of-all-trades guy, and at that time he was completely restoring an old windmill that was a listed building. As for the "quitting their day jobs" piece of fiction, I don't think either of them had day jobs to quit. Gus Gregory was a freelance cameraman I believe, and Will Trickett was also freelance. Anyhow, it's interesting that their cars which were only given minimal attention have survived far better than WD cars.

Hi Oscar, great channel. Just letting you know, you missed another link between flipping bangers and WD.... "Will" the presenter now works for Wheeler dealers! He is assistant to Elvis. You can see proof of this in the end titles of the current and previous WD series, listed as "William Trickett", plus he has appeared in the background of some of the photos on their Twitter channel! Keep up the good work.

The two guys on that programme seemed very "bodge it and scarper"! I noticed recently they Will Trickett is a technical advisor for a car show on TV, but I can't remember which one it is.

I just treat it as TV fiction car repair show. Don't take any of the we give up our, jobs or what they make on sales seriously. Just enjoy the old cars being "sorted".

Hi Oscar Great to have an update on flipping bangers! What a programme ! I am totally hooked and have watched all available episodes over three series. They produced a programme which was not only informative and interesting but also hilarious with the obvious connection of two friends having fun. During your research did you find out if they intend to do any further series? Keep up the good work!

Great stuff pal! i did an MOT check on the land rover, after the series ended, i wont spoil it. Also done a few MOT checks on a few of their later cars, and by Christ, some of them were on their last legs, one of cars the owner who bought it, must have MOTd later on in that year, and from the looks of it, they got shot, not long after, when i did the tax check.

I haven't really seen this show so I don't know if you could improve the format on it a little the video was good enough though. As I remember maybe I saw one episode or 2 on youtube and didn't really find it credible. If you keep on doing them Ill watch more of yours.

Yes, I never liked the advertising with photos before they had done any work. I get the 5 day thing as they were supposed to be quick flips to earn a profit rather than proper restorations.

@@Snarl616 i found the alfa episode, last week, and watched it. They done their money big style on that one. A few people were saying about the wheels and engine, but would you waste any more time on a car, and have bits lying around, taking up space, until they sell? I think not. Cut your losses and move on.

@@procta2343 Right, but don't scrap the car as it is, with new original wheels and a good engine. There is a reason why some cars are sold as "spares only". They could have done that and get some money back, but no.

Never watched 'Flipping Bangers', so this one was sort of interesting, but not in a WD 'I wonder whatever happened to...' type way.
