For the biofuel composter, if you want a set-it-and-forget-it for filling cans, you need 500 sticks (5 stacks) and 100 tree sap (1 stack) to fully fill a can from empty. If you're so inclined, there's room for 4 cans and their associated sticks and sap in a single composter. It also takes something like 4-5 minutes to fill a can, until you can use water pipes on it. Also, on that note, a full can will fuel the drill for exactly 2 hours. Edit: Also, recommend keeping 2-4 wood ramps on your person when going mining. They're ridiculously handy for reaching those high-up mining deposits, and you can deconstruct them as usual once done.

Last month I finally decided to get this game after watching these streams. As Pav says, single player is extremely challenging, at anything above the easy start difficulty, and the level progression slows for a while. The base I started utilized wooden beams and pillars to make a wildlife fence, and I planned enough ahead to build at the intersection of three rivers, allowing me to make fancy bridges, and enabling me to use the waterwheel for power. The only change in that system, should be to allow a somewhat 18th and 19th century approach, by allowing pulleys to "activate" machinery, rather than just generating power. And rather than biofuel, I'd like the option to burn coal or wood in a steam engine to run a turbine, before the other power generating methods. A windmill to run a water pump, much like what you see on a farm, would also be a welcome game addition. And then there's the matter of charcoal kilns....

any Stone Left? seems a stream involving the ZM crew may be in order to hammer out the mission to open the north reaches and stockpile a vast supply of material resources for further construction on the keep. with a full crew at hand, protecting the Buffalo convoy won't be terribly difficult. 2-3 guards on overwatch while everybody else is chopping or mining everything in sight and loading up. also a perfect chance to unleash the true power of the ZM Moacycle Gang!

I think one of the cheapest cloud data storage services is Amazon's Glacier Deep Archive with some $2 per TB per month. With the sheer amount of data you accumulate that still adds up. Whatever happened to 5D crystal data storage? Guess 500TB storage with medium lifetime in the millions of years sounded too good to be true.

One thing you could do with the castle, if you wanted to give it a distinctive flair, would be to only use the 1x2 ramps instead of stairs. Ladders would be fine, of course, otherwise ramps to the top of the gatehouse and any towers you make would look hideous, but for the rest of it, it could look quite interesting to continue the feel of the main approach ramp to the rest of the castle.

Icarus has many little quirks that bug me, but I think the one thing that does the most is the encumbered system. There should at least be a variance of lightly over encumbered vs. continuing the add more to the point of simply being unable to move if massively over loaded. Could be just me though. XD

From what I've read of the available batteries, my use level would run them dry in about 5 hours (assuming no incoming energy). Which to be fair isn't too bad, and would likely cover the majority of blackouts we get 🙂

TBH, I'm not convinced that solar panels are worthwhile. The power system in Icarus is rather...unrefined. Buildings require a fixed amount of power at all times, regardless of whether they are being used or not. If the grid has insufficient power to support everything connected, buildings seem to be depowered either at random, or using arcane and difficult to determine criteria (it seems related to the order they were connected to the grid, and possibly a priority system by building type, but is is highly inconsistent, and seems to change when the game is reloaded). In most cases, a depowered building will not turn itself back on when grid power is against sufficient, requiring you to manually go turn it back on. As an example, let's say you have biofuel generator and a solar panel (which was my initial setup), each of which provide 5000 power (solar only when the sun is on it, obviously). Let's say you add to that a Water Pump (1000 power), a Material Processor (2500), and an Electric Furnace (2500). When the sun goes down, one of those 3 will deactivate. In my experience, it was usually either the Material Processor or the Electric Furnace. When the sun comes back up, that building will not automatically turn back on. For the Furnace, you have to go access it and flip the toggle to turn it on again, and in the case of the Material Processor, I found that I could only get crafting to resume by clearing the crafting queue and re-adding everything to it again. That gets worse as you add more power-costing buildings, like a fridge or deep freezer and the various electrical versions of work benches (the benches I eventually just discarded in favor of the unpowered ones instead). This same thing happens with the Electric Deep Drill, if it gets tripped off due to insufficient power, you have to walk back out to it and turn it on again for it to resume drilling. I set one up, got annoyed with it, and swapped back to a normal Biofuel one. It's a third slower, but will consistently drill for exactly 120 minutes before it runs out of fuel. I actually just took down my solar panel and replaced it with multiple biofuel generators instead. If near a river, you can use a water wheel, but those _also_ have to be maintained by clearing the junk out of them every ~3 hours, and they only provide 40% as much power as a biofuel generator anyway. The biofuel generator will empty a fuel can in just over 4 hours, which then requires 90 wood to refill, or around half a tree. I found that solar simply wasn't worth it purely because of how much manual effort was required to ensure things gracefully degraded at night and turned back on in the day.

I'm fortunate in that regard, in that I've played about 95% of my time in game in co-op which helps a lot. It helps in Minecraft, in space engineers, in all of these open world construction survival games. I wish more game Devs tried to make NPCs to interact with, even non human ones like animals with more complex behaviour, because even that helps you feel less isolated, more connected

The challenge with any potentially society overhauling change through technology is that even if you agree to take it slow, who's to say the other guy will? While it would be best to cautiously approach these things, that question pushes even the cautious toward reckless abandon in pursuit of being first.

RE the advanced fertilizer, they're absolutely and unquestionably downgrades. Not only are they crazy expensive (1 regular fertilizer plus 5 Silicon or Sulfur each), but they provide _less_ bonus in total. The basic fertilizer provides +15% growth speed and yield, for +32.5% total increase to crops per time period. The advanced each provide +50% to one of those two stats, and -25% to the other, which is a net total of...+12.5%. You straight up get less crops per time period using the advanced fertilizer versus the basic. I think _maybe_ an argument could be made for the one that increases yield and slows speed, if you're not good at checking your crops regularly, because slower growth means less crops wasted to not growing at max growth before harvested, but overall they're just not even remotely worth it, imo. Frankly, the chemistry bench itself isn't even worth it, imo, since the advanced fertilizers are the _only_ things it can make that the standard herbalism bench, material processor, and kitchen counter cannot make (which, btw, the tier 3 kitchen counter can make several things the tier 4 one cannot, because they were moved to the chemistry bench, namely the various tonics. So I also don't really recommend upgrading to the tier 4 marble kitchen counter either).

That's a bit disappointing, I wonder if it's actually worse or if they messed up the descriptions, either way that sounds like something that should really be fixed
@KaedysKor Жыл бұрын
@@Flipsie I've not tested them directly, tbh. I read the description, did some quick math, and just discarded the Chem bench entirely as a waste. >.< I wouldn't be surpassed if it's legit like that, though. There's a number of things like that in Icarus. Crop plots are a great example, the cost of a single Hydroponics plot is astronomical compared to the fact that _at best_ it is the equivalent of two super cheap wooden plots, or 4 wooden plots of you don't bother to water the wood ones by hand (since that's super tedious, and it's only a 50% growth penalty for not being watered, rather than stopping growth entitling). The upgrade pathway in Icarus is often _wildly_ more expensive than it is beneficial.
