I've just printed my first set of flite test plans, I then stared at them sitting on my printer wondering how to transfer them to the foam, thank god I found these videos or I would've thrown the towel in early 😂

Nice video! I just got done watching your series. I did a tutorial too, published on Apr 17 2015. Which still work for the older designs. You bring up more good ideas too. Thanks for sharing!

Lol when I printed them I didn't get the nice alignment marks, so I used the law of good continuation...and it all worked out 8)

NIce tutorial series. I have been printing F.T. (and other) Plans directly onto 110 Pound Stock paper. They call it Card Stock at Staples. It's a little more difficult to cut out, but SO much easier tracing onto Foam Board. (I use a fine line felt-tipped pen to go trace onto the Foam Board, because it uses hardly any pressure to get "GOOD" lines!)The ones I've printed up fold at the "seams" where they are taped all the way across, with packing tape, or roll up for future use, too! Just another "Random Thought", from an old man! Haha!

Great work! Even though I'm not a beginner it's still cool to see other peoples' styles and methods. This is going to be a great series as scratch building from plans is not covered too well by FT

I have tried printing plans that are not set as tiles. Can not get the pdf to work right. What program you use including the version. What printer too? Enjoyed video. Used it to put my first set of tiles together.

@MyBigThing: I understand using hot glue for the actual build. I was referring to plan/template sections, as I cannot print these plans full-size without tiling the pages.

Your Buddy said it - you are the Efficiency EXPERT!! I've been beating myself over the head with trying to figure out how to get the plans on to Foam Core Board. And flipping the Template over, to mirror the other Wing.... BRILLIANT!! 👍👍👏👏👏👏🍻🍻 I can't wait to watch the other two in this Series. Thank you! ~ Carmine 💥 ⛽
@chriscrawford19585 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Adding to the efficiency, I cut the top and left side of #1, lay it on the foam board for reference, cut the top and left of #2, lay it over #1, tape it down,....rinse, lather, repeat...!

Which paper size is this A4 or other

Buy the kit, its pre-cut waterproof foamboard, comes with landing gear & pushrods and will save you money and time.
@jacklingerfelt99657 жыл бұрын
in placing plan sections together, instead of sticky tape, can one use UHU (school paste) stick instead?
@MyBigThing20107 жыл бұрын
Jack Lingerfelt toys be better off using spray adhesive...getting the foam board too wet with water based glues will cause it to delaminate and it'll come out like crap

Im having trouble printing the plans out! following the recommendation by sponz using his reccomended settings. For some reason on some of the pages it cuts off the bottom. Only way i can get everything to print out with all the orientation marks is to custom size it to 95%. im concerned i may run into issues building it at 95%. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
@AlbertKimTV2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not sure. Its probably an issue with your printer and the ability to print at 100%.

For the curves.. Cut away the excess on the mat with your razor. Then just use scissors. Cut straight and move the piece to follow the curve.

Sir can u help me with the ft spitfire plans. They don't have a mark on corners
@thomasbradford85464 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing technique. Scratch building with foam is a pain in the ass. You wont save any money either. When you have your foam, landing gear, push rods, exacto with extra knives, minwax (to waterproof) -it actually costs more than buying the kit with pre-cut parts and waterproofed foamboard. There is no point to scratch building FT stuff when you think about it. Save yourself time, money & a backache & just get the kit. I have been into RC planes, trucks/cars & helicopters for over 30 years and I will build a balsa plane/kit anytime over this nonsense.

"lining up those hash marks makes it so easy" Unless you wear bifocals such as myself. It looks straight, move your head a little and it is way out of whack. Line it up again, move your head and it's still way out of whack. very frustrating.

Good effort, but no subtitles make it a no-no for those people unfamiliar with US English.Also soft accents are difficult - pity youare not from NOO England, then we'd get in the KAH, and stack our foamboard in the YAAHd!
