Yeah, except she was likely taking PEDs. Her physique drastically changed in the span of a year; as well as her times. Her voice even lowered. Taking off 0.5 from your 100m time in a year is unheard of, even with wind-assist. Not to mention that she retired that same year she broke the record, conveniently the year before they started doing off-season testing. Men’s 100m records keep improving over time, yet Flo Jo’s record remains for over 35 years? All the evidence points to drugs. I just feel terrible for all the modern sprinters who can’t come close to her. It’s not fair to them. Plus, there are many other American athletes who have said they witnessed her getting injections.

Have you ever heard of Darrell Robinson? If we go by what you posted, the answer would be no. So we suggest you go on KZbin and check it out. While you are at it, check out Victor Conte and his data. You do know who Victor Conte is don't you? "COACH"??? What about WADA, NADA, IOC, and how they played into the whole scheme? "coach"? you know about them too, don't you? Do the deep research, gather all the data, numbers and then run your mouth. You may want to start with her numbers 1984-1987. If you were ever on the track, explain how YOU would be able to go from a 10.96 to 10.49 in less than six months. That's a drop of .47s, or a gain of about five meters. We remember Bolt saying he trained for over TWO YEARS, just to drop .5s. You do know who Bolt is don't you? "coach"????????? put a sock in it.

I ran track in school in Germany back in the early 70's when it was the 50 and 100 yard dash. I watched FloJo in the Olympics in 88 and was thrilled to watch her. One of the things that a future mother would never do is take anything that would harm her unborn baby.. Her child had no issues in her birth or life. I wonder if the fact that she is an American, was black or just down right beautiful was the cause of all the trouble. Folks should just leave her alone and let her rest in peace especially since she past all the required drug testing when she ran. Her testing was almost harrasing as she was tested constantly when she was running. I am proud to be an American black woman, God Bless her.

@@ronald8792 She was a drug cheat, the testing at the time, weren't very good, all tests were performed before an event, by then, people were manipulating the system, they took enhancement drugs for weeks or months before an event, then take other substances to erase all traces of the drugs before the completion, this is why she was never caught. The IOC found out about this trick and decided in 1989 to change their test process, they stipulated that all athletes were to be tested randomly in the year, during training, before an event and anytime of the IOCs choosing, this method proved effective and is still being used today, infact, the vast majority of drug cheats are caught by random testing. Immediately after this announcement, Flo Jo made her decision to retire, she never ran another race, because she would have been found out. If you look at Usain Bolt and many other world record breaking sprinters, they all won multiple gold medals in their careers before breaking their respective world records, not Flo Jo, she won 1 gold medal in Italy in 1987, and it was the relays, not her own individual effort, her time was also poor, nothing ground breaking. She was running for over 10 year's professionally and never won a single individual gold medal, her time in all of her races were also average, she ran sub 11 twice in her life before she did multiple times in 1988. Flo Jo was a drug cheat, it was the drugs that killed her, Steroids have a way of destroying the heart, many pro wrestlers and body builders die this way, so too did Florence!!

Being "GENETICALLY GIFTED" was how she did it. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a prime example of what it means to be BORN A CHAMPION. His structure, muscle fibers, cardiovascular system, etc, were unusually perfected toward bodybuilding IN THE WOMB. Few humans are born this way. He even admitted training with and without steroids, and was able to excel without them as well. Likewise, everything in Flo Jo's body was waiting for her to discover "TRACK" from the day she was born. 1 person out of millions, over many decades might be born with these ATHLETIC GIFTS. But, where great gifts are given, there are flaws too. She pushed beyond human limitations and her heart had all it could take. Or, we can say, "GOD wanted his GIFT back". Leave her alone now. I love Flojo. Never had such personality and beauty graced the Track ever. That being said, the only circumstantial reason that I believe she did take steroids is that months after the 1988 Olympics Random Drug testing was introduced and she retired from the sport. Only made it to the D1 level over here, but yes, those those tenths and even just a hundredth of a second especially in the sprints can be the difference between a win and a loss, a record, or qualification for an event. Side note: as a doctor, while I wouldn’t know what her medical record would show, she definitely didn’t present with the visible physical features of someone with acromegaly (Think Andre the Giant). Very well conditioned athletes can have enlarged hearts; however the pattern of enlargement tends to be different compared to those with a pathologically enlarged heart.

Flo Jo was a black woman that left her competition in her dust! She brought many eyes to track and field. The woman in most of these pics and handing off the baton is her sister in law, Jackie Joyner- Kersee. A star in her own right. It takes one steroid user to suspect another. Drug testing has become more sophisticated now, than 1980, so none can hide. US athletes like Carl Lewis and others are more infamously suspicious of taking drugs. Not one Jamaican female is suspected of doing drugs, they run naturally. The men's sprint record has evolved since Jesse Owens, 40 yrs later no one can touch Flojo's sprint record 🤔.

Flo-Jo was elegant, she brought elegance to Track and Field, and because of that her detractors had to remove her from standing next to their plain Janes. No longer could flowing blonde hair be the standard of beauty in Track and Field, a woman with a honey complexion and gorgeous accessories pushed everyone to the back of the line. Flo-Jo was the definition of elegance, she was stunning, she could have taken the Field in an evening gown, that's how gorgeous she was, and "they" have yet to find a plain Jane to compete on or off the Track.

The enemy ALWAYS goes out of its way to discredit The Power of Us. She was a Pure Divine Powerhouse on that Race Track. She was AMAZING, that's ALL I know. I am not an athlete, nor can I imagine the stress they go through just to entertain the rest of us with their physicality. She was a intense force to be reckoned with. She was Beautiful, Elegant, and Kind. She made every Little Black Girl believe they could run as fast as a Goddess. For that I will ALWAYS adore her 🙏🏾💗

Excellent job!!! I love Flo Jo she is one of our Beautiful Black brilliant ICONS!! A Woman of class, style and vision she was unapologetically fierce! Therefore many will try to disgrace her legacy! But no matter what anyone says, her track records speak for them selves !! RIP in peace Queen Florence Griffin Joyner!! There will never be another 😊😊😊❤❤🧡💛

Even to this day, no woman has had such beauty, grace and presence on the track. There will never be another, that's for sure. The irony of Ben Johnson making accusations about drug use did make me laugh.

Hey don’t say that. The body is so powerful you would be surprised what you can do. Who knows sis. Go and kill it and compete against yourself. That’s what Flo Jo did. She always wanted to do her own personal best ❤️

Don't count yourself off when you haven't tried yet. You might be just as good as her if you train. Good luck on track this season!

On 20 November 1995, Sergei Grinkov collapsed and died from a massive heart attack (age 28) in Lake Placid, New York, while he and Gordeeva were practicing for the upcoming 1995-1996 Stars on Ice tour. he was the 1988 and 1994 Olympic Champion- No one said Bo about wither he was taking drugs. They only said look he left behind a wife and child. Did anyone mention Flo Jo's child and husband??
