Float Tube comparison: Cumberland vs Super Fat Cat vs Fish Cat 4

We pumped up our brand new Fish Cat 4 and the Super Fat Cat float tubes from Outcast, and also the Cumberland float tube from Classic Accessories. We thought you might all like to see these tubes in a bit of a belly boat comparison.
We actually looked around on the web in the recent past to see if anyone had any comparison information on these very popular float tubes, but there was really not much or anything; so we did this video to help all of you out who might be trying to decide which float tube is best. One major piece of information that was missing on this video but we'll state here, is that the Cumberland tube retails for about half the money - around $200 or so versus the Outcast tubes, which typically retail for about double this. Great video! I have the Cumberland, have used it for 2 seasons and REALLY like it. The seat is high enough that it only occasionally gets wet and its comfortable for hours. I agree with you 100% on the velcro straps for the stripping apron. My fly line seems to catch on the straps and the zipper handles of the storage bins.

Thanks for another fine video, Wade. Nice review of the differences between the three tubes. Before I forget to mention it, I also really appreciated the other vid you made on the non-powered mounting system for the Cumberland. Just the other day I was wondering what do with 2.9ah batteries since I've pretty much been just using 5ah ones. For hiking in (where minimizing the weight load is always a bonus), being able to slip the lighter 2.9ah battery and the finder in a backpack is a great solution. Hope all's well and love that location by the lake! Don

Which would you recommend for floating a river recreationally? I am a big guy and floating a river in a regular tube was hell

I'm kinda tossed up. I have never got a float tube before and wanted to get one to fish some small lakes. I can get the Cumberland and fish cat 4 for almost the same price. I want a tube that will last. I would love to hear your opinion on which you prefer and is more durable and such.

No, with a full inflation my butt pretty much stays dry in the Cumberland and the Superfat Cat. I haven't actually used the Fish Cat 4, so I am not certain if this is the case with that tube.

Im looking at buying a float tube, something I cant put a trolling motor and fish finder, any recommendations?

I'm not sure a trolling motor on a float tube would be that practical; but in terms of float tubes I like, it would be the cumberland on the more budget conscious side, and the super fat cat from outcast for the higher end side. You might like at the personal pontoon type watercraft for a trolling motor. Also Dave Scadden has some frameless pontoon models that may do it for you.
