Yes- she might be a blue belt by IBJJF definition, but her wrestling background puts her ahead of the game in this division. She’ll progress very quickly and will be tested as she moves up.

Could yes. BUT she had only been doing bjj for about 5 Months only. She needs at least a year before promotions to either blue belt ( technically still white belt) or purple belt.

@@tichtran664 I think with the combo of these newer rules: White Belt: No minimum time Blue Belt: ... e. No minimum period if the athlete is the Adult Blue Belt World Champion. she could go straight to purple and still be eligible to compete ibjjf

Crazy that Travis Stevens received his black belt in 18 months,he was a purple belt within 6 months. Being a judo phenom made him rank up in jiu jitsu quickly

A lot of these so called blue belts are probably close to being purple belts, wouldn’t be surprised if some got promoted straight after, usually how it goes, can’t throw any hate IMO

helen is silly. she is an Olympic gold medalist/mutiple world champion competing at blue belt. she knows in her 1 month of training she was beating all females she rolled with. so for her to act surprised is criminal. if you are an olympian you should be moved straight to black belt. not her fault for ibjjf rules but don't act surprised like it was difficult. blue belt for wrestlers is: take em down and keep em down. and you win

She should do well against anyone not named Ffion Davies, women's bjj is pretty one dimensional, and lacks good wrestlers unlike men's where you have the Ruotolo brothers, the Tackett and the Nicky Rod to mention a few. Which is why Jason Nolf despite his wrestling credentials will hardly be an elite grappler at best, theres just to many all rounders in the men's game for him to make a big splash.
