After 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009, which upset Floor very much, she started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch and did the management much on her own (which was one of the reasons of her burnout). In Revamp she experimented with different vocal styles within one song such as from full operatic to death growls in seconds. The heaviest song and in my opinion the best one. And yes, the sound of this video is reasonable. In this video you’ll hear Floor singing clean, operatic and growls. Mark Jansen is the singer who did the growls in the album version of this song.

I am sure she was unhappy about After Forever ending but IMO she was far more upset by the ugly end to her relationship with her long term boyfriend Sanders who was one of the founders and guitarists in After Forever. Given how that ended there was no way the band was going to continue.

Revamp was meant to be heavier than AF and got more heavy with their 2nd album. Still my favourite Floor incarnation, bringing everything tt table in spades both vocally & performance wise. Live, yes. For the lucky ones who were there and will forever keep the empty memories of who she was before she lost herself. (Hmm... making an entire sentence by cross-referencing the lyrics. I must have learned a thing or two from MM.) Her best vocals are on the two ReVamp albums and the last After Forever album. The problem is, all these are brickwalled to death and horribly overcompressed. On "AF" there is significant clipping and audible distortion. I've heard a lot of people say that she sounds better live than in studio - well, that's part of the reason why. Because in the studio version there is no dynamics at all, everything is loud. The sterile production makes it sound even worse. Every instrument is clearly audible (except bass, lol), and Floor's vocals are very clean, but it sounds synthetic. With the songs themselves being heavy, fast and loud (on Wild Card especially), it's extremely fatiguing and becomes unlistenable quite soon. The first four AF albums, released by Transmission Records, have much better sound quality and much more dynamics (though still not nearly as much as they could - and should - have had). Signing to Nuclear Blast was the worst decision, when sound quality is concerned. Commercially, of course, it was a good one. Pick your priorities, as they say...

Hell ofrom Brasil. I know a strong Brazilian community in Calgary. I meet them on the TwoCanada channel. I like growls, but not as the only vocal technique in the entire song. It's a resource for a few moments, however it's not pleasant to hear an entire song with howls and screams. In ReVamp a Floor was the limit of versatility and that has to do with the moment in life she was in. Her life today is wonderful and not so much reason to sing with such aggressiveness. And when somebody ask who is the best Nightwish singer? Listen to ReVamp and you'll know that out of the 3 only Floor is a metal vocalist.

search for Graspop Revamp "Disdain" if you want to hear Floor growl a lot. There is one other where she growls very low (more like burling), but I can't remember what song that was.

Great reaction to pre-Nightwish Floor, but I may be wrong, but you did not react to my favorite vocal performance from Floor with After Forever, Dreamflight at ProgPower USA VIII (2007).

The original poster of this version cleverly put the studio version on top of the footage. The audio from the original footage is horrible. This is a problem with Revamp, they didn't get much in the way of decent live audio. Graspop is the by far the best audio.
