I bought kool glide 2 years ago, and once you get on to it, it will save the day on pattern match, or bowed and skewed rows. I love this tool.

Thank you for the information. I'm learning to lay and repair carpet in Alabama from someone who has 40 years experience. The only bad thing is he can be kinda stuck in his ways and doesn't always use modern tools or techniques. He thinks he knows everything and can't be taught new stuff unfortunately. I look forward to watching more of your videos

Good demonstration but I’m wondering is this product going to save time on the job or just be more steps to a process that already works
@FloorsbySouthernboys3 жыл бұрын
There’s actually a lot of different things that you can use this iron for besides just carpet, and it is especially great if you have a pattern running off that needs stretched to line up, I don’t use it all the time but it is really nice when I need it and have it to use
@jameslick52334 жыл бұрын
So by the time you make the seam it seemed like the hot glue sealer already dried so does it melt a second time?
@FloorsbySouthernboys4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they call glide will reactivate the glue and weld the two pieces of carpet together from the sealer
@joemcginnis62394 жыл бұрын
Reuben, I was told to put the tape down under the carpet and seal it on one side along the edge with the hot glue sealer (like you would with commercial carpet) and the Kool glide will reheat it and weld the edges together as you do your seam. Save time too!

Can the kool glide seam board be used with a standard hot melt iron to help stabilize the seam?
@edsteinmetz33287 ай бұрын
what kool glide seam tape did you use ? a) Kool Glide KGT-8568-C Silicone Coated Premium Seam Tape; or b) Kool Glide KGT-8568-U Uncoated Premium Seam Tape or ; c) Kool Glide KGT-8558-U Uncoated Standard Seam Tape ? I am doing little patches of carpet where I cut out damaged carpet ( bleach spot 6 x 9 inches ) and replacing with a matching carpet piece taken out of a closet. ... How to use KOOL Glide Pro and which tape to use... A question about what you did in video -- Why did you use glue gun glue on edges of carpet ?
@dannyc7839 Жыл бұрын
What happens if the seam gets off? Are you still able to kick it into place? Gluing the edges would drive me nuts I think.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Great video Reuben. I’ve been wondering if I should pick one up. I usually always have great results with a traditional iron with the seamer down. I did a patch job the other day where it was to small of a patch for an iron but I felt to big for using a glue gun. This sure would of came in handy for that.

@@FloorsbySouthernboys hey Reuben, I've been watching your videos for a while now. I am learning to seam carpet with a traditional iron and burned my finger and am looking into getting a kool glide. Could you explain what's the difference in the type of kool glide seam tapes. One is with silicone and the others without. What would be the big difference? Thank you in advanced

Nice demonstration I’ve been using the kool glide since 2012 What one of the number one complaints about seams? ......peaking I would recommend a seam weight I have a 25 pound dumbbell on a piece of plexiglass, that’s got some holes in it for cooling.

Funny story I started my scene and noticed I was one row off from making pattern so I stopped about two foot into the seam let it cool down flip the carpet upside down to heat up the seam tape and pull it off it immediately caught fire and scared the s*** out of me. You must heat up the seam tape through the carpet to pull it off or it will in fact lay on fire safety tip

@1234tellmewhatyourlookingfor2 жыл бұрын
When you sit the iron down on the carpet, to work your seam my instinct kicked in ! No don't do that I thought. Then I realized it is a totally different method of heating tape. Does it use microwaves to heat the tape? All the years we have used heat irons, I have always wondered why they could not invent a better way. Looks like they did. I believe heat tape and irons have been around since 1971. It's about time. Thanks for the instructions I am thinking about getting one.

Would you say it's faster than a traditional iron?

Floor Restore & More It is faster than I can go, probably about like running a traditional iron on high

Like all the benefits of the kool glide. Just have a hard time justifying the cost of the seam tape to be honest. Sure 1or2 jobs will pay for the iron but the tape?? Also if your in a dump where they only want something to cover the floor. Is it worth all the money for that iron and tape?
@carpet1804 жыл бұрын
Lucas Reuss I hear ya. It’s tough to explain to customers or the store you get work from I need to charge this amount to give you a quality job when other installers will always come in and do it cheaper.
