Awesome video! I've done a few tests with the kool glide and I'm always amazed at how strong the bond is.

Hi Ruben! Great video 👍 Kind of a random questions since this video is about the Iron but do you prefer the Roberts or the Crain power stretcher?

Yes, I'm sharing this video. I can't believe what that little tiny amount of contact in the center of the tape with the cool glide can hang on that well. Freekin' amazing. I'm betting you could do the same test with work on xk50. Yes, that was a challenge 😁 I'm sure it won't budge either but I have no idea that the cool glide tape could do that and neither did you. 😁 My biggest concern was how much pressure you were putting downward and if the carpet suddenly gave away I was worried about your hands and your wrists or getting their fingers pinched under the arm of the stretcher handle. Be careful, you need your fingers to type also 😉
@FloorsbySouthernboys2 жыл бұрын
I was definitely thinking about that with my fingers there

I was worried about the stretcher handle breaking. I've seen that happen. I like to see the test done with hot melt seam tape as well.

What setting do you use when using the seam board that the kool glide comes with making a seam over pad?
@stanleyflooring67722 жыл бұрын
I use medium on the board, or low if straight over pad. But i have used low on the board a couple of times on underfloor heating and warm houses. My boards usually frozen cold from the van 😄

Sorry, but you didn’t stretch that carpet 3&1/4”, simple science of the heat tape why would any properly heated tape fail? Measure from the wall out to past stretcher put a piece of tape then a line, stretch and measure. You may have gotten 1&1/2”. Aside I agree the seam shouldn’t fail, I assume you hear koolglide seams are not strong, I’ve used koolglide and there are some consistency issues, you have a 2’ controlled test, real world strength factors vary.

@@FloorsbySouthernboys I e seen your other videos I’d say 5? Years ago we’re very good. Not sure of math for 4 ft stretch at 1&1/2 percent but you probably went 4X over recommended stretch so obviously the seam strength is there.
