International Paper use to have a lumber mill and paper mill in Gardiner. Nothing left today. You missed the Florence “Rhododendron Festival” when all the motorcycles come to town. No rain in the Willamette Valley.

Another great video. We were there camping in Florence last fall in late September. When you were approaching the bridge coming into Florence where you mentioned you could see the city to the right. If you look along the water front just after getting across the bridge to your right about two blocks east. There is a MO's restaurant right on the water. Best food in town...

Made this trip with my Dad around 1990ish. Stayed a couple of days in Florence and visited the Darlingtonia State Park and the Sea Lion Caves nearby. Bringing back some great memories. I think we only went as far as Newport up the coast because I remember going through Corvallis, my Dad's favorite town on the trip. I believe that's where all of the cherry trees are lining the streets. We ran out of time and we "flew" back down the 5 to home on the Central CA Coast near Pismo Beach.

After Reedsport the houses that you saw on your right we're in Gardiner Oregon which is where the paper mill was located until about 95 or so. I worked there from '91 to '92 and I lived in Florence

Thank you for making this Nice video. Im from Denmark, and two years ago I went down those exact roads that you are driving on during this video. I was amazed by the area, and I cannot wait to return as soon as possible 👍

Great video and drone shots. The First bridge is the Umpqua River Bridge. The Bolon Island land is a marine construction company. I believe they are building the boats there. If you follow Smith River Road where you turned off of Highway 101, there are some great camp ground up farther along the Smith River. The next small town was Gardner. The second bridge was the Siuslaw River Bridge. I can't pronounce that correctly either. LOL. I think I can get it close, but not good enough to fool the natives. Florence is the cheapest gas on the coast. So you filled up in the right place.

Nice drone shots at that shipyard, looked like a Marine Construction Co. and a small fleet of Coast Guard Boats. Keep wandering Russ so I can see the West.

I just discovered your videos, and I’m trying to watch everything in order. The KZbin suggestions for the next video, sometimes isn’t the next video. I’m trying to follow on Maps, and trying to pick the next on by what the next town up the road is. Love the drone shots, but you should try using the right stick. You could see more if you don’t just go up and down, and spin around. I’m looking forward to the rest of the trip. Thanks for the videos!!
