Ahhh I'm not sure the answers to the question about Florence's background were found from the video that you mentioned, but a little background is that Florence is from a pretty interesting family of artists in London, she's dyslexic, was classically trained as an opera singer when she was still a minor, and went through a lot of difficulty during the times that she first hopped onto the music scene and started to become more prominent in it. If you listen to her albums chronologically, the lyrics, instrumentation and visual storytelling (even her hair colour changing) shows the evolution of what's going on. She's also very invested in protecting LGBTQ+ youth and rights, is a poet, visual artist, and painter. The Machine began as her good friend and pianist, Isabella Summers (their original name was Florence Robot Isa Machine). Then The Machine grew bigger as Flo and Isabella collaborated with more and more artists--violinists, harpists, guitarists, drummers, choirs, etc., so I would argue the way the Machine evolves is a major part of why this is truly not just Florence it's also the menagerie of amazing, talented musicians and singers who help create the amazing soundscapes that appear on every album and in every show!

This is my absolute favorite performance of her. She never was as free as now. She finally let´s herself go on stage. And that´s how she should be. Like a bird. Free. Also, in the music video of Big God, she said in an interview about it, that she is finally dancing, and it is breathtakeing. Florence Welch isn´t a pure soul at all. She did some shit in her live, and caused pain to others, like all of us did or will do, in one point in our lives. But what she does with her pain and -(I´m not religious at all but...) with her belive... she makes pure magic. And her best songs, are the ones, where she is screaming it out into the world. From the moment of the album "How big how beautiful", she became free.

You've definitely picked very tame videos to react to, she's very energetic and likes to run around stage and into the crowd, always very passionately dancing, her How Big How Blue How Beautiful album and music videos show how chaotic she is. Recently she's seemed to calm down after going sober and just getting older. She's utterly incredible, no one will best her and Aurora, absolutely no one. She loves water imagery and sometimes perform on stage with water, dancing in water on stage. She's very elemental and she's a self proclaimed witch and is just the most utterly beautiful person the world doesn't deserve. She's like a differently chaotic Aurora. Wish that they would meet or collaborate, I would literally cry 😄

You should watch when she visits a terminally ill fan in hospital, it's truly beautiful, and what a wonderful, brave young girl she was and sung along with Florence really well. It's sad uplifting all at once.

Oh yes! Just to add on, I really feel your interpretation of her performance that it feels like a genuine expression of her feeling/creating the music---she's performing but it's through immersion with the music/story not like she's just going through the motions. Listening to Florence often makes you feel on a deeper level--to me it's like being caught in a storm through its end and just feeling how small you are and how big the world is--it's just as you said, "elemental". Totally agree! I often feel the same way listening to Beyoncé and Hozier.

To give you some context: Florence and The Machine is a band from England (London) that was formed around 2007/2008, Florence Welch, the singer and composer of all the songs got together with a few friends and started making music and playing in South London in pubs and small venues. They got some media atention in the uk at the time and recorded their first album "Lungs" in 2009, got a reasonable amount of success with the singles "Dog Days are Over" - to this day, still their most famous song and "You've Got The Love". They toured europe in 2009 and 2010 in big festivals and gigs, eventualy doing US Tours. But they really kicked off in the US with their second album, Ceremonials. Their third album How Big How Blue How Beautiful set the band as one of the most important indie bands from the 2010's. Their lastest release was in 2018 with the album High as Hope (the song you reacted is from that album). The band announced a break on the same year. But florence writes songs and soundtracks for films and videogames, and she is also a gifted poet. Their influences range from punk rock to Shakespeare, frida khalo, Virginia Woolf, Arcade Fire, Black music and psychedelic rock from the 1970's. She mentions Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane and Fleetwood Mac as main inspirations. Hope that helps you. AAAAAND her trademark is performing barefoot pretty much always.

I got nothing on the history. I think I heard the Name of Florence + The Machine, but can't remember if I heard a song. I feel, they are around for a while. I may have heard the name like 10 - 15 years ago, but I might be totally wrong and mixing it up. Guess I ll have to check. So I kind of stole the scoring system of another reaction channel. It is a 7/10 for me. 5/10 being like a random pop-song I won't turn the radio off, when it plays and 10/10 being Nightwish/Aurora/Ayreon etc. They were founded in 2007, wiki says. And i found out which songs i know from them. It is called You've got the love. And Jenny of Oldstones from GoT, but I did not know it was by them.

Also Florence + the Machine is a UK based band. It's really only Florence herself and Isabella Summers, her best friend that are solid members though you could argue Rob Akroyd is also VERY solid and a huuuuuge part of it himself. The rest changes. Florence does most of the writing, Isa writes as well. They hit in 2008 with an album called " Lungs " which featured " Dog Days Are Over " which was an album that was basically a scrapbook. It featured songs she wrote several years apart and poetry turned into songs for the album. Some of the songs aren't necessarily made to go with the album but are a bit of love to her past where she was in a different band and also another band that covered GreenDay songs during her youth before she really found what she wanted to do. She was discovered by approaching the woman who would then manage her in the bathroom and singing " Something's Got A Hold On Me " hilariously enough. She also has been called one of the greatest live performers of today by The Rolling Stone, Elton John and Paul McCartney. She is also the only modern female artist asked to perform with The Rolling Stones more than once out of all the women they've pulled to sing " Gimme Shelter "

It's funny that you mention Aurora, because Aurora is actually quite influenced by her. ( Though oddly Aurora is kind of a hypocrite and going through something at the moment I think. Becoming less sincere recently and more of a caricature of herself. She gets hit with comparisons so much now she really pushes the " I don't sound like them and I'm not inspired by them " now to try and separate herself but, she undeniably was influenced by Florence. ) Florence is definitely a musical big sister to a lot of women in Indie pop/rock genre. Lorde cited her as a huge inspiration and cosplayed as her in " Yellow Flicker Beat " ( of Florence in Sweet Nothing ) and used very similar videography and more in " Green Light " from Florence's " Third Eye " and also inspired Maggie Rogers and Hayley Williams' new solo era to a notable amount. But yeah Florence has been out since '08 and well known in the Indie crowds. I'd say she is probably the most influential woman in Indie pop that isn't like . . . Kate Bush herself.
