You found 2 sea beans. The first you correctly identified as a sea coconut. The second is a box fruit still in its encasement. Box fruit are a rare and prized find. Winter is sea bean season here on the FL east coast and every year there is a sea bean symposium in Brevard County. The Space Coast (Satellite Beach) and Treasure Coast (Hutchinson Island) are wonderful for shelling, glassing and beaning. Love your videos!

I found a really cool hamburger bean the last time I was on the East Coast. I thought it was super since I have never found any. We get nickernuts sometimes but that current bring you folks on the East Coast much different treasures. Thank you so much for the box fruit ID!

I love this video Sharmon! I am from PA and actually I am quite curious about seeing John D MacArthur Park and Singer Island. Apparently there is some good snorkeling in the area; snorkeling is also one of my favorite things to do. I will put it on my to do list. I wondered if having a scooper would be great to snag some of those bittersweet shells in the water. Thank you for telling us about the statistics and . yes it so important to stay safe from lightening. Thank you again!

I should have brought my scooper for sure. And I really need to get my hands on a dive flag. I have a tough time snorkeling in the gentle waves over on the West Coast, I can't imagine what it's like to snorkel over there! I will definitely bring my scoop next time and some other viewers have been kind enough to share some other East Coast locations they recommend. I'll be back that way at some point for sure!

Lightning is amazing and you do have to take care. When I was 8 years old I boldly went out dancing in the rain when all of a sudden I was three feet in the air with a lightning bolt between my arms. Time stood still while I looked into it. I even had time to check my friends who had run to a porch . They all had their mouths open in amazement. Haha. A lady I worked with years later had a horrible encounter coming out of Sunday school and sitting on the steps while a storm went by. Her friend was struck right beside her and burned to death on the spot. She was terrified of even the sound and had to be sedated if a storm started. You never know what will happen. Stay safe!

What stories - oh my goodness! You are quite lucky to be able to tell your story and I'm sorry for your lady friend who is now traumatized by lightning. Poor thing. I definitely take great care in the summer months with storms around. Lightning is fun to watch, but from a nice, safe distance.

I told ya be careful of sharks LOL! They are over there, but I think your a bit further south than where the attacks have been. Did you see the little baby's foot print next to the digging under the piles of seaweed, soo cute all by its self. Looks like some type of cowery?.. it had that opening with the ridges, the other one was from the looks of it a top snail. ya think? Im thinking you need to go further north for the brighter colored bittersweets, thats what Im thinking and the scotch bonnets are further up too, I think.😋

Nice to see you visit the Atlantic coast again Sharmon! Nice change. As much as I prefer shelling S.W. Florida, I also enjoy shelling OBX, and other east coast locations. It offers a different experience then the Gulf coast. I I enjoy the sunrises, so much more than the sunsets! Even though it is not the best time of the year for it....I will be trying my luck in the Emerald Isle, and Shackleford banks areas on vacation in two weeks. Hoping for some different experiences than my last few trips to sw florida. I always hope to find some nice cowries, and larger conch shells when on the Atlantic coast. Happy shelling! Thank you for the wonderful content.

I do find lots of calico scallops, which are my favorite. I did get to go to honeymoon island twice. The first time I had great luck, the second, not at all. I'm dying to go to Sanibel island. I think this time of year the shelling is slow all over. It's the case down here right now - a little on the slow side. Sure, there are some shells out there but nothing like our fall/winter beaches. I still think Bowman's on Sanibel is a great place to explore or Turner Beach (very limited parking) on Captiva. I do not like the cold, but I am kind of looking forward to the shelling this winter!

Love your videos. I remember being at this State Park many years ago. I was walking along a boardwalk trail when I happened to look down and noticed the ground seemed to be undulating. It seems there were thousands of crabs scurrying in all directions, making the ground look like it was moving. It’s a beautiful place. Glad I got to see it again, thanks to you and this video.

I have a shark story for you. Many years ago I took my friend snorkeling for her first time at Ocean Reef Park on Singer Is. There were people parasailing above us and Chris said they seemed to be pointing down. I said "oh they are just waving" and I waved back. A little while later a man came out on a sea doo and asked "do you realize that there are sharks all around you?" Of course I had no idea. I told my petrified friend that we must not panic and swim quietly back to shore. We made it no problem, but Chris never snorkeled again. I later learned that the sharks migrate biannually along that coast. I almost croaked when I saw photos on TV! So thankful that we made it back safely.

Yeah, that would have scared the @#$#@ out of me too! So you accidentally went swimming with sharks and got to tell the tale! The fins I see on this coast are always attached to a dolphin. I'm quite glad you ended up safe and I'll be thinking about those sharks should I ever choose to snorkel on the East Coast!

I guffawed at the selfie deaths! I'm 70 and clearly turning into a curmudgeon bc so much irritates me nowadays - scenarios which involve cell phones top the list. Last year my sister and I were sitting on the beach when 3 teens set up too close, phones out and music loud . We watched them spend, for real, 3 full hours taking selfies after which they packed up and left. This summer I was at the beach for 2 1/2 weeks. I now have absolutely no patience with people who insist on using mylar balloons and regular balloons! Those things just do not die. I found so many washed up on the beach. I still have the garbage I found bc I am stumped on how to recycle that stuff so it doesn't end up back on a beach somewhere. But enough of that! It was so cool to see all those spectral bittersweets. They are so pretty. Sorry you didn't find any scotch bonnets. Next time. Thanks for doing the drive and taking us along!

I won't say which beach it was, but one of the beaches I visited was absolutely gross with garbage. Like I wouldn't have even made a dent picking up garbage by myself. It was awful and I couldn't wait to leave. I try to do my part and leave the beaches a little better than they were when I got there ☺️ My trigger is styrofoam. Why are we still using it??? I don't think I would have appreciated being so close to kids taking photos of themselves for hours either 😂 That all being said, it was nice to see a different coast. Even just to compare it to what I normally get to see. The surf was different, the shells were different and I got to see a shark - so it was definitely worthwhile. Thank you so very much for watching!!!

Nice beach out there but not too much different shells. At least you found shells that you hardly find on your west coast side. Glad you got that lightning app to get alerted. Some people in Washington got hit by lightning and they were in a park. Was on the news. Best to be safe, good app to have. Interesting info on the sharks.

Yes, the shells and beaches are so very different just a few hours away. I was glad to see some that I don't normally get to find. And I had heard about those poor unfortunately people in Washington DC. That was quite unexpected I would imagine but it goes to show that lightning is quite dangerous. 1 thing to mention about the sharks there might be few deaths but the amount of people attacked and (seriously) hurt lies higher then that 9 thou! lightning just useually is fatal

There has only been 2 days that I can think of where the no-see-ums were out, so I don't typically use bug spray. I stay away from the bushes and I'm usually close to the water where there is a breeze so usually I can stay bug free. I do have an all-natural spray but I usually forget to wear it!
