Nam doc mai is a thai mango. It means fragrant flower water. Kiew savoy is also thai. Kiew meaning green. Ty for a great video

Awesome selections of green mangoes by the way! Thanks for the tutorials. My family is from Laos but we live in Southern California. My mouth was watering while watching your clip. I’m just starting to explore the different varieties of mangoes which is pretty limited in my area. Anyway, I just bought some mango trees to plant in my yard: Nam Dok Mai, Mallika, and Carrie. I went in blindly with never having tasted any of these fruits but I’m super excited to see them grow and let’s hope they will bare fruits.

My wife loves green tart mangos except I had been wondering what might be the taste of unripe Mallika since I got us a tree. So thanks for including Mallika. I also tried the Vietnamese Elephant Mango it was crunchy slightly sweet but no tart at all. Thanks!

Any Thai mango with the title Mun in it can be eaten green. Such as Pim sein mun, Mun khun sri, nam doc mai mun, Mun sayala, etc. The word "mun" is describing the nutty taste when it's unripe. Of course not every one of them is named that way like Kiew savoy. Kiew savoy meaning eaten green. Or eat it green.

Keo or Kiew Savoy from Cambodian word: Svay Keo ( Svay means Mango), called by another country plus they use one word before another word or noun before adjective, thank!.

Where do you get your trees from? I havent seen such small mango trees that bears fruit already! I wonder if these can be grown in large pots? I live in NY and looooove sour green mangoes!

They all came from Florida nurseries. I graft my own trees now

Just wondering.., I know you prune just the limbs without fruit.... but aren’t all those leaves still useful for photosynthesis that then helps support the developing sugars for root for fruit development? So are you potentially under cutting the trees over all fruit performance by prematurely cutting supportive leaves/branches?

We all make choices. I'm just sharing mine, it's a common practice with many fruit species though. My results have been favorable so far

@@unconventionalme8048 I understand, no dispute here. :) As an update, many branches are beginning to flush new growth already. If you want to do some more research, I believe the Japanese are the masters at trimming for optimal fruit. They count leaves per fruit and whatnot.
