easy solution... people want to build on barrier islands and flood zones should be self insured or denied building permits. I live in north west Cape Coral and had zero water in my neighborhood. If this storm didn't produce local flooding we shouldn't be forced to have flood insurance. This is a money grab by insurance companies to cover the cost of the town permitting homes where there was flooding. The town makes money allowing homes to be built so they can bring in more taxes and stick us with the bill.

You really do not understand the attorney fee problem do you?!?! I know a guy that got $100k from a claim, later got $200k. If you are unaware of the problem, educate yourself but making these statements without out facts help make the problem worse.

@@AL-dy1lj an Insured get $100k, the lawyer got $200k. A lawyer got a guy a $50-60k settlement media reported - the attorney’s fees were $600k!! The judge made them reduce it after the insurance company applied, still getting between $100-200k…

I have a FR44 (Financial Responsibility)( Virginia is another state who has a FR44) (only those states) I don't know what the 44 means? Well I have a DUI in Florida (It's not bad)(didn't get in any accident) (Just nodded-out on the road) ( I didn't take the field-sobriety test, (parked, car running in park (full of beer cans ,not good) (I blew a .09 at the local jail)(wasn't bad, not legal) I spent a-lot of money. I take full responsibility. (I was wrong to drive out on a public street) It's not bad-----A-least I not fighting on the ground in UKRAINE. A did not get in a accident. Could have been much worse! Any way, life is good. When your adult, you have to pay the price! (what-ever you do) Could be much worst, hopefully my life has "learned from my mistakes" Ops! I thought it was car insurance! You do not want to get one those (that's for sure)

It doesn't reduce losses it reduces the financial obligation of non flood policies. You pay for what you get, insurance is not socialism nor an endless bank account. Condos on the 3rd floor require flood insurance because it's a risk pool. This will make rates go down...
