This is the most dangerous type of law. It’s 💯 unethical and unprofessional. I’m curious how these idiotic laws intersect with CMS??

Agreed. It's baffling that it was so well received. That's definitely going to be something to watch - how CMS responds to the whole thing. It's already super difficult to find care with Medicaid, and I imagine this will make it so much harder.

As someone who’s witnessed providers sending letters to patients who refuse to follow their medical advise to let them know they won’t provide care anymore this sounds very similar, except without even having to take someone as a patient. Healthcare is confusing enough as it is for patients just now another thing to throw in the pot of where can I go to get healthcare .

@Sunlight Healthcare providers break this oath ALL THE TIME! I had a J-tube placed a month ago today. The surgeon started in slicing and dicing, I was NOT numb and screamed bloody murder for the majority of it, until the harmful Anesthesiologist got his butt back in MY OR room to put me under general. This was NOT emergency surgery, trauma, or anything critical that was stopping them from waiting 15 minutes to get the harmful doctor back in my OR room to knock me out. The surgeon knew I could feel it. I addressed it at my follow-up and he was TOTALLY unapologetical! And he gave one of the worst "reasons" (excuses) for his psychotic behavior. "Do no harm" is out and doctors and other providers don't even have to take it anymore. Its optional. I'm not saying I support this law, I'm just telling you of my most recent trauma caused by the hands of a surgeon. I could go on endlessly, as I have multiple rare medical conditions and I am refused basic care, referrals, and meds, just because of my diagnosis' regularly! See sick people are the ones who actually have a finger on the pulse of the system. If you want to know how well it is or isn't working, ask the sickest person you know. Not providers. Not insurance. And certainly not the government.

This is the second of your videos I’ve watched, and the last. You claim to be all for inclusion and against discrimination. In this video you are asserting that those with convictions are just trying to get out of work or that insurance companies trying to get out of paying. Until you accept and believe that people do indeed have convictions that will not allow them to participate in abortion procedures for example, then your assertion of believing in inclusiveness’s is hypocritical. Why should anyone be forced to participate in the ending of life of the unborn? The end result of what you’re advocating for is that anyone with convictions regarding the unborn should not be permitted to work in healthcare, this position is actually advocating discrimination.

Discrimination is real & many different people are affected by it. If I would’ve gotten the proper help I need I could’ve gotten the access to really start living along time ago. I am blessed to have that option now. I’m just fed up with the underlying mess in these systems that leave people out in the dust.

I’m not for abortion except under extreme circumstances. I believe in gender swaps, if patient is 21 or older. Cannot smoke, drink, go to bar/casino etc due to immaturity, should also need to wait for life long body altering surgeries. Here in Oregon, 15 year olds can elect for surgery without parental consent or knowledge and the state will help pay for it. That to me is as unacceptable and crazy as this Florida bill is. This bill is waaay to broad and should never have been passed. There are too many outs in patient care when you now have three branches of separate opinions in which any of them could deny care on a whim. That’s a scary thing and I hope it doesn’t happen in more states

This whole rant is just one big straw-man/slippery slope/just in case fallacy and completely misconstrues what the main purpose of the bill is for, which is to uphold people’s right to not be coerced into what would otherwise be considered indentured servitude (something that the 13th amendment protects against), based on one’s personal conscious. Compelling people to provide a service will not suddenly make them benevolent, it will only make them resentful and more likely to provide low quality care. Also, aside from eyewitness/anecdotal testimony (which is not evidence) what proof do you have that they will discriminate as you claim, that isn’t utter hyperbole and fear mongering?

This very issue presented itself this past week, within my own family. I live in Ohio, and don’t know what the law is here.. I do know, from my many years in nursing, that, when I worked in the hospital, there were physicians who would look at the face sheet on new consults, and if they were Medicare or Medicaid, they would refuse the consultation. Last week, my nephew took his aunt to a new doctor for an appointment. My nephew is a convicted felon, for a crime of a sexual matter, who served his time, and his probation, and went through therapy and rehabilitation, not to mention this was a number of years ago. One of the office personnel recognized him, and knew of his past, went to the doctor and told him, and they then told the aunt they were not going to accept her as a patient in their practice. They provided her with no referrals either.

@@commonsense6967 No they do not. If you cannot put your patients well being over your own religious ideals, you do not belong in healthcare. You cant do something, fine, but refer the patient to someone who can and will. Now, providers don't even have to give a referral. They are completely taking away THE PATIENTS right to decide what is best for THEMSELVES. This gives not only doctors the pass for not providing needed care but insurance companies can now deny care. It will come down to money. they will say they don't believe in it, and therefore won't have to cover anything they want. Insurance companies already deny anything that they can get away with. This will only make it worse. So no, they don't care about THE PATIENT. The patient is who healthcare should be about. If you can't handle doing what needs to be done, get out of healthcare. I have a friend who was a paramedic. She was called to a situation where a man had just shot his wife and 6 year old daughter. The daughter died while she was working on her. She then went over to save the life of the man. Why? because it was her job. She doesn't get to decide who lives or dies. SHE ISN"T GOD. Her job is to do the best she can for the patient. Cant handle trying to save the life of the man who just killed his wife and daughter, GET OUT OF HEALTHCARE, Can't order an abortion to save the life of the mother, GET OUT OF HEALTHCARE.

Can't handle giving a blood transfusion because it goes against your religious beliefs, GET OUT OF HEALTHCARE. The patient comes first above everything. Even your own personal religious views because not everyone shares your religion. It is unethical to force your beliefs onto others. I say again, if someone cannot handle putting the wellbeing of the patient over their own religious views, they do not belong in healthcare.
