The Florida Mango Fest was a big success. Here is some video I took of the event. This is part 1. I will put the panel discussion up in another video.
We plan to have an even bigger and better event next year so be sure to stay in touch with my channel. I will announce the details as soon as we have them.
For this event we are teamed up with UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Extension. The event was held at Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach, Florida!!! This amazing event included:
~Mango Tastings

~...and so much more!
Enjoy the video.

Heaven!!! I had a good crop of Sweet Tart mangoes this year, but repotted my Carries into 65 gallon pots, so only have one Carrie mango growing. Also have a young Mallika and K3 tree growing.

@@greatergood3706that’s exciting! I understand they (K-3) are rather large trees as they mature (not ones to keep in even large containers - they need a good plot of land), so I’m trying to be a bit careful where I end up positioning it! Sweet Tart is also known to be a bigger tree, so it’s already got a spot in the ground. I’ve got my Carries and Mallika in very large containers, as they stay a bit smaller and can be more easily contained - but I know my one Carrie really wants to be in the ground as it separated the concrete pavers it was on and stuck its tap root into the ground! Determined bugger, I love it. I admire when people have a good portion of land. But for now, I’m grateful I have neighbors that grow different varieties and are willing to do some trading. 😉

I agree maha chanook and Pickering are both very tasty. I love my Carries the most. It’s important to note, for those who may not know, that taste/quality varies by year. Rain amounts, maturity, level of ripeness, etc all play a role. So one year you may love one variety and the next, not love it as much. So don’t go off of one tasting.

I have 10 mango trees all different varieties and by far the best is Pickering & Mahachanook, as some tasters here mentioned. The lady at Excalibur Fruit Trees in West Palm recommended these when we got our trees and she was right. And these grafted trees are the perfect size, not too big. Some people may not realize that grafted trees are the only way to go because planting from seed you don't know what kind of mango you'll get or if you'll even get any mango at all. We have 1 very large tree 15 years now from seed and it doesnt produce. From seed it also takes many more years to produce, and also the tree will become enormous.
